Alfred Angelo in Columbus, OH

I was SO excited that Alfred Angelo opened up a store in Columbus, OH. I have admired their gowns since I got engaged and started looking. I also loved their prices. So naturally, I called right away to schedule an appointment.

Boy, was that a HUGE mistake!

This was my first (and to date ONLY dress appointment). My wedding is not until 10/2012 so I have time. I had a few pictures with me, but really I wanted to try on any kind of dress to get an idea of what I liked. I am NOT high maintence, I just want to find whatever style looks good on me!

The girl who helped me, I won't use her name, seemed so disengaged from the experience. She told me to just go find dresses, and offered no help. When I picked one out, it was on a manequin, she didn't want to go through the trouble of getting it for me. While I changed, she talked to my mom, the one person I brought with me. My mom told her it was my appointment and she better do what I want since this was the ONLY dress I had specifically wanted to try on when I saw it.

The appointment went on with her not really getting into anything. I was really disapoointed, but I loved two dresses. When we left, I was so  happy with those dresses. My mom, on the other hand, was not happy. She said when this lady was out on the floor with my mom, she had told my mom I lied about my dress sizes-that I am not a 6, but an 11 and cute dresses don't come in my size.

I was MORTIFYED anyone would ever say something like this. WATCH YOUR BACK! The manager never returned my call and the website is even more unhelpful. I worry that is they treat me like this to get my to buy a dress, what will happen when I buy it and they don't have it ready?

Needless to say, I won't be going back and I'm really sad I have to lose a beautiful dress!

Wow, that is a horrible experience! I'm so sorry that she would dare say something like that.  If I were you, I'd call and complain to the manager about what she said.  I've been to one AA store in Maryland and to the new one here, and both times had good experiences all around.  Hopefully it's just this crazy chick.  Also, I think there is a dress store in Lancaster that carries Alfred Angelo.  If you love the dress, you may consider buying it elsewhere (and when you call to complain, let them know they've lost a sale).

That's really shocking. I am getting my bridesmaids dresses from them and have been in there several times since they've opened. I had a wonderful experience with a girl named Annette and another girl whose name I cannot remember but who is currently pregnant. They were wonderful, especially as compared to Wendy's, which I will NEVER go back to again.

so sorry to hear about your experience.  I got my bridesmaid dresses there and had some issues as well.  I ordered and purchased them all at the same time on 1 credit card.  Well before that even, they lost the measurements of one girl and after quite a while of searching they finally found them.  I got a call that they came in and I drove across town to pick them up and found they only had 1 of 3 and I waited 30 minutes while they tried to figure it out.  They called again a few days later to say they were in again.  I asked if it was all or just one and the girl freaked out that I asked and didn't know.  I finally waited for the 3rd call before i went back to finally get them all.  Love the dresses, it's just the people that seem incompetent.

THanks everyone! I do love the dresses, but I have PLENTY of time to find another store.

I did call the store manager-who was "never in" unti l got upset, then she was in the back. The district manager took a month to get a hold of, I had to send an email saying they lost my business before they bothered to call back.

I'm glad others have positive experiences, but I wouldn't trust them with my wedding dress & having it ready when I need it!

I too just recently had a terrible experience! I went in looking to purchase a swatch booklet in september of this year (2011). The manager convinced me that not only would  I need one, but my mom, maid of honor and wedding planner should have one too. I was sucked in and bought 4 totaling $25. Less than a month later, they came out with their new color lines...apparently something they do every october and may. Both the colors I was interested in were being discontinued before the end of the year. My wedding is in October 2012! So when I went to exchange them for the new ones they refused stating all sales were final. When I explained that I was never told the colors might be changing in less than a month, and they were unopened she still refused to return them, but told me I could buy 4 news ones instead. I am a manager at a big box retail store and I can tell you from experience that they have terrible Customer Service!
