Florists in Ames

I am getting ready to check out florists and I am wondering if anyone has had any experiences (good, bad or otherwise) with Coe's Floral or Everts Flowers in Ames. I've heard Mary Kay's is supposed to be good to work with and plan on getting a quote from them and I plan on getting a quote from hyvee floral as well, but if anyone would provide some insight on the other two places I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

I have never worked with Coe's but my family has gotten flower's from Evert's for years and that's where I always planned on getting my flowers for the wedding.

However, when I called and asked them for a price quote the lady on the phone was extremely rude to me, said I picked a horrible date for the wedding, couldn't believe that I had called during the week before Mother's Day (I had been told by another employee to call that week, I had called the week before and the person who did weddings was out of town) and then when I gave her my last name she laughed at it and said "Bet you're glad to be getting rid of that!"

Needless to say I was very upset and went to the store to talk to the manager, who didn't even apologize to me or offer any sort of consolation.  All he said was "Well, we spoke to the employee."

So even though that has been my family's florist for years, I will certainly not be getting my flowers done by them and am not going to recommend them to anyone else.  Also, they tend to be quite a bit pricier than other places so if you're on a budget, they wouldn't be good either.

I am using Mary Kay's flowers and they have been wonderful to work with.  I couldn't be happier that I made the switch!

Hello...I have since moved from Ames to South Dakota, but lived there for approximately 8 years.  While I have recieved flowers from Coe's (from my fiance), they were expensive and two of the roses were almost dead upon arrival.

My ex's family owns Mary Kay's and while I didn't recieve many flowers from them (figure that one out), I do know that they do take pride in their work and truly want to work for the customer.  His aunt owns it now and she is a super friendly person.

Hope that helps.  If you are interested in getting out of Ames and saving some money there is a nice floral shop in Boone, IA (15 min. West, but I can't remember the name of it.)
