Hosting a Bridal Shower

Hey ladies. I'm planning to throw a shower for my sister in the spring. I don't live in Ohio anymore, otherwise I'd host it at my house. My mom still lives in Columbus, but my sister also lives with her. Would it be weird/rude to throw the shower at their house? I don't want it to look like the bride's throwing her own shower, or anything. I'm open to renting a place, but I'd like bring in my own food, if possible. I don't really know anyone in Columbus anymore that has an apartment clubhouse or anything to rent...

I went to a shower at the bride's aunt's house once. I thought it was really nice, and none of the guests seemed to think it was weird or rude.

I threw my sister's shower at the house we were all sharing at the time. I don't think it's a big deal at all.

My bridal shower will be at my mom's house and most of the other showers i have been to have either been at the brides house or her parents house.

Mine will be at a house, I don't want people to have to pay to rent something out for me!

I don't think there is any reason to go to the trouble or expense of renting a place. As long as you don't make your sister do the work of cleaning or decorating for the shindig, there is no reason NOT to do it at Mom's. Close friends will know who is hosting and that you are not local. Anyone who might take issue really won't be satisfied no matter what you do. (It seems like there is often one of these in nearly every group!)
