Here are a couple of pics I pulled when I was looking for ideas.  Hope this gives you some ideas...

I really liked this one with the flower petals and the candles floating on top of the petals in the diff. vases.  I know a lot of these vases can be found at the dollar store for $1 a piece, so they are pretty inexpensive to make.

I know this one is a floating flower, but you could replace the flower with a candle.  Again, I would check the dollar stores around town for the vases.  If you go to www.dollartree.com you can see a lot of the vases they have.  I think you might even be able to order them online and some of the pictures have ideas for centerpieces as well.  HTH!

PP, what great pictures!! I was thinking the same thing, so I went and looked for ones that were a little different and maybe some more verity.
I agree that the Dollar Tree is going to be your best bet, their vases are a great value and made very well.

Solid bowl with colored candles in your colors

I know it doesn't really have candles but i'm in LOVE with this look!!

    A different option.

I was thinking you could find this type of holder in the cake section, and it would hold a lot of colored water or some of those jell beads. I hope you know what I mean!

Very tall. I don't know that the Dollar Tree has any this tall, but save-on-crafts.com would be your best bet there.

Last one, just something different. I don't know what your likes are, but maybe something like this, or you guys have a favorite drink...

    HTH!

I'm doing submerged orchids in 3 tiered cylinder vases each with a floating candle on top.  Also, if you're heading to Minneapolis any time soon-or anywhere near IKEA, their floating candles are super cheap.  I think I got 24 candles for like $3.

My flowers for the wedding are wild flowers. So I'm going to grow my own, dry them, and use a hot glue gun to glue them to the bottom of a clear vase. Then I'm going to fill it with water and set floating candles on top (:
