New Bride in Iowa

Hello girls...I need serious help!!! Today FI - from Iowa - asked me if I (from Italy) would take into consideration getting married in Iowa, Carroll region. He is from this area and most of his family still leaves there. Once my family leaves in our area and is much smaller than his (DC metro area), it would be easier for them go to Iowa than the other way around (and of course he will go to Italy to have a reception with my family there the following Spring) I just have been there once and I don't know that much the area. If someone could help me out with some suggestion for reception sites, I'd be very happy!!! Our wedding will be on 11.11.11. Thanks girls!!!

Thanks Rochelle, I am hoping to get some helpful hints here. We are leaving to the Mediterranean today for a cruise with our kids (yay...almost one year without traveling, now vacation time!!!) and when I get back I will be checking out the replies to my post. Hopefully I will find a way to plan this wedding down there without a lot of problems. Thanks for the welcome!!!

I am from Carroll, live in Carroll, and I am getting married in Carroll April 30, 2011.  Some places to have receptions are the Santa Maria Winery, The Carrollton Centre, Dedham American Legion Hall, or Arcadia American Legion Hall.  I don't know what your budget is but the Legion Halls are very cheap, but look nice.  The Carrollton Centre is a hotel that has a large Ballroom and you have to get the food from them and I am not sure of the price (I am sure it is much cheaper than anything in the DC area!)  The winery is a also a beautiful place and you have to get the food from them.  You can find information on prices for the winery online.  I have been to many weddings at each of these places many times, so whatever you want to know just ask!
