Are online ordinations legal in Iowa?

If my friend gets ordained can he marry us in Iowa?

    I have just recently figured this out. The online ordination is not even necessary. According to the Polk County Clerk of Court, the ONLY way he can marry you is if you consider him to be "the leader of your religious faith." The lady said it has to be a judge, justice of the peace, or clergy. If you consider to this person to be the leader of your religious faith, then he can do it.

    Our friend is not necessarily that, but he did help us find a church we feel comfortable in and that fits our needs. And he recommended his pastor for pre marriage counseling. So we are going with it. :)

    My aunt got ordained online and is marrying us, and she married my parents, so yes!
