New Topic: Menu!

What will you be filling your guests stomaches with?? Let's do cakes and dessert here too!

Re: New Topic: Menu!

  • We're offering a choice of Roasted Chicken, Vegetable Primavera, and Pork Tenderloin (and of course chx tenders for kids)

Also a candy bar, marble cake with pearl and rose accents, and cupcakes!
  • Not sure yet! Since FI is in the Marines and stationed in California, we can't have our tasting until December 28th. All we know is that it'll be beef, chicken and vegetarian options since that's what we put on our RSVPs. Lol
  • We're doing heavy hors d'oerves. Supposed to be tasting everything on Sunday! super excited about that. It'll all be gluten-free since my FMIL has celiac disease with a very high sensitivity. Everything except the cake and beer will be gluten-free including the groom's (cup)cake(s). We didn't want to mess with cross contamination. But there was no way I was serving 180 people rice flour cake. it's just gross and not pretty.
  • Apps include a bruschetta bar, cheesesteak empanadas, honey seasame chicken, a trio of stuffed phylo dough, among a few others.  For the main course we are doing chicken stuffed with brie, short ribs, and gnocci.  We are still trying to figure out whether to serve salad or soup efore hand...so many decisions!  Our cake will be red velvet with cream cheese filling and cream cheese frosting :)
  • Now I'm hungry and I really want some gnocci!

We're having a super casual wedding plus our venue is a college so we didn't want any fancy food (that wouldn't be something the college could actually handle) so for our cocktail half-hour we are having mashed potato martinis. Dinner is salad, burgers (veggie and sirloin), and either french fries or tator tots. We also have a gluten free option.

We're having cupcakes and the flavors are vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry. We also have a sweet and salty bar. It's mostly candy but has some things like pretzels and peanuts also to help balance out all the sweetness.

  • I am totally coming to your wedding!!!!!!!!!  YUMMMMMM!!!

  • We are having a formal cocktail hour...not formal as in "stuffy"..lol..but it will have cheeses, fruit platters n veggies, along with chicken skewers.
For dinner- it's a buffet (all you can eat, baby!) haha!  Sliced Top Sirloin and Chicken Parm.,..salads (ceasr, tossed and another kind), Tribecca (sp?) bread and prob red potatoes or mashed..
Cake- is DELICIOUS!  Local bakery and some seriously excellent stuff!  the cake is yellow cake with real strawberries and vanilla custard layers, buttercream frosting...white, with sparkly edible outside (to look like snow)..has ribbon for decoration (color of girls dresses)..
Brownies and Cookies are also available...oh yea and at my Fi's request- vanilla ice cream too! LOL!

  • This is my first post!  Rather than a big intro, I'm going to just dive right in to the different threads!

We're having our menu tasting on the 16th.  Most likely chicken/pork, fish, some pasta and salad choices.  If we can afford it we'll have a prime rib carving station, as well.

I originally wanted to go with a simple gingerbread cake rather than a traditional wedding cake, but as the date nears I'm thinking about going more traditional - love red velvet or chocolate/peanut butter.  We're also having a hot chocolate/cookie/candy bar - I like the idea of adding some pretzels/nuts to balance out all the sweet!

Asiago Chicken, Pork Loin or Vegetarian Lasagna with house salad (choice of ranch or 1,000 island) and vege medley.  Chicken Tenders for kids and a hamburger for my picky dad :)

Beer/Wine Hosted, Hot Cocoa, Coffee, Pop/Juice, etc.

Chocolate flavored groom's cake, vanilla flavored regular cake.

Late night snacks: Cookies and pizzas.
  • We haven't pegged down our hors d'oeuvres yet, but we're thinking bruschetta, mini pizzas and something else fun, like meatballs.

There will be a muffin, scone and fruit display during this hour as well.

Then comes the fun part: brunch buffet! Waffles, scrambled eggs, bacon, chicken St. Germaine, potatoes, veggies, etc., etc.

Cake is vanilla with one tier lemon, one tier raspberry, both have vanilla frosting. I'd like to add that the filling is 100% natural, so it's more like a whipped mousse than that weird gel I've seen in some cakes.

I really hope I get to eat the food and that I won't be too nervous to.
