To avoid DEAD BOARD SYNDROME!

Bored at work and there is literally next to nothing going on anywhere on the forums, so....

Favorite part of wedding planning and why?

Lease favorite part of wedding planning and why?

I'll go first.

favorite part was probably dress shopping. I love pretty dresses and would love to have at least one occasion a year to wear a ball gown.

Least favorite would probably be vendor shopping. I'm on a budget so trying to find vendors in my budget sucked and then I feel like I didn't get as good of a deal as I should have on some things because we planned so close to new years. but oh well. Not to mention, I did a LOT of vendor shopping on my own and that just kinda stunk.

Re: To avoid DEAD BOARD SYNDROME!

  • Favorite: Definitely the entire bridal look. Dress, shoes, hair.... I loved all of it. I wish I had a job where I could wear dresses and heels everyday because I absolutely adore them.

Least Favorite: Hands down, any siutation involving the future in-laws. They are impossible to please and super negative, so after about the first month, I essenitally stopped talking about wedding stuff with them.
  • Favorite: Sitting back and receiving RSVPs! (though trying on dresses was fun... but i found it rather exhausting and all I wanted to do at the end of it was eat a burger!)

Least Favorite: Invitations. We had so many problems by the time we sent them out I would have been fine with photocopying the info onto post it notes. ugh. At least that part is over!!

AH! I get so giddy when we get RSVPs in the mail. Lol.
  • Favorite: I agree with getting the RSVPs!  I liked the hair and makeup trial too :)

Lease Favorite:  anything having to do with the budget or writing checks ;)  We are starting to do our programs too, and they are driving me insane (PS: if anyone has a good program template, let me know!).
  • Favorite: All the planning and details. I love it! There must be something wrong with me.

Least favorite: My florist. He's truned out to be a liar and I refuse to deal with him anymore. My fiance decided to keep him so he has to deal with him.

  • Fav- Dress time was AWESOME but I think my Shower and Bachelorette party were the best part.  Being with so many loved ones, wishing me well was worth all of the aggravation of the annoyances we had.

Worst- In-laws for sure...(although they've been better, thank God!)...

  • FAVORITE: Definitely dress shopping.  Close runner up would be engagement pics and working with my photog in general I LOVE HER!

LEAST FAVORITE: The stupid little tiny details such as who is going to ride with who where and when on the day of, alphabetizing the escort board, getting the last two freakin' RSVPs back from 2 of FI's DUMB FRIENDS!!!!!
  • Favorite:  I LOVE my shoes!  I have a very casual job, so I wear very comfy shoes every day.  I was worried about ending up with uncomfortable shoes for the wedding (I want to wear heels) so I decided to bling-out some shoes I've had for 15 years, and love.  I covered them in swarovski crystal elements - it was extremely tedious work, but they look fantastic!  I want to wear them NOW!  But I'm making myself wait until after the wedding.  Ha!  They will be so cute with jeans!

Least Favorite:  Dealing with "life" throughout the planning process.  We got engaged back in late April.  In June we found out that one of my dogs - the love of my life - has a large, likely cancerous, tumor on his liver.  I completely forgot about planning the wedding throughout the summer - all of my focus and attention was on battling this tumor.  He is hanging in there  - crazy - and so eventually I had to turn my attention back to wedding planning.  I have had to learn how to enjoy the ejoyable parts of life while also dealing with the reality of my dying dog.  An important lesson to learn, I am grateful for that.  His birthday is in a couple of weeks, he'll be 9!

Jealous. I'm still pending 69 out of 106 RSVPs and that's even with me using word of mouth as confirmation for some. FI's family has been shoddy with getting back to us because they think since they live 1100 miles away, it's a given that they won't come. *sighs*
  • Favorite: Dress shopping is my favorite part too. I loved trying on such beautiful dresses and then knowing it was the one when I put my dress on.
Least favorite: Our venue doesn't come with anything. Having to buy linens, plates, silverare, glasses has been so much harder to handle than I had thought it was going to be. The space is absolutely gorgeous and at least comes with tables and chairs, but filling it up has been a huge headache.

  • AWW I'm SO sorry about your baby (dog)...thats so tough!  We also had to deal with one of our little honey's being sick recently.  We had to put down one of our dogs about a month ago.  SO SAD!!  We know he isnt suffering though anymore and he was 12..but still.  Sad anytime of their lives.  Wishing your Sweetie a VERY happy Birthday and healing!

  • I have only gotten RSVP's for 32 people out of 148, and my deadline is in two days. UGH!

Fav part: Getting my look together, and all the fun planning dates I had with my Fiance. We would watch wedding shows together and work on the DIY projects and talk about how excited we are to get married.

Least fav: Dealing with my FMIL. She is just too much, and she stresses me out. Luckily, she's been much better.
  • Thank you WonderfulSavior, for your kind words!  I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your pup.  It can be hard to balance out the grief with the joy of wedding planning!
  • Fav Part: Watching my timeanddate countdown rapidly diminish when we pushed the wedding date up 6 months, lol? No, I'd have to say my dress has been my favorite part, even if the following arguements with my mother over it dampened that a bit.. Its so pretty, and if I manage to get it altered in time it'll be the prettiest thing I've ever even imagined I'd ever get to wear.

Least fav: Planning from 3,000 miles away, and therefore really not doing a ton of the planning. In someways I kinda feel like I'm in an episode of My Fair Wedding and I'm going to just show up at the wedding without having seen anything beforehand. My in-laws will have done most of the work, I mostly just picked the colors and an idea for the cake decorations, but most of my "planning" has been agreeing with my MIL's suggestions. Granted, she and I have very similar tastes, and she's been VERY, VERY considerate of my concerns and suggestions, I'm actually very blessed.

I just kinda feel really guilty about my MIL having to take over because I'm so far away.. And I'm kinda wishing they'd let me pay for more..
  • Aww, thank you!  Yea, we are moving forward.  Def have sad moments, but overall, we knew it was time and are doing better.  We also have a few more dogs, so that helps.
