Nervous About Nitty-Gritty

Anyone else starting to get nervous about the day-of nitty-gritty? As we're all getting down to the last month or so of planning, my mind is in overdrive thinking of all the things I need to pack, bring to the ceremony/reception site, talk over with vendors, schedule, plan for, deal with, etc.

Are you worried about forgetting things? I've had dreams about forgetting my clutch, my shoes, the marriage license.

Are you worried about vendors not showing up? I haven't talked to my DJ since the summer, so I'm afraid he's forgotten! I have FI calling him soon, but everyday he puts off the call I get even more nervous.

Basically, it's panic time for me. I'm a nervous person anyway, and this is just not fun for me. Is anyone else hating wedding planning in general and wishing it was over?

Re: Nervous About Nitty-Gritty

  • I'm definitely nervous about forgetting things. Very nervous about forgetting things just because we've had to move all of the wedding stuff around so much lately, it's been kind of a nightmare. FMIL said we could store it at her house but then insisted that we move it somewhere where there was no room for it, so we moved it out to my grandmothers and as I've been doing crafts and things, bits and pieces of stuff are everywhere. it's kind of terrifying actually. But we have the church Friday and Saturday so I'm hoping to take almost everything up there on Friday and then anything we might have forgotten on Saturday.

I'm ready for the wedding, but I kinda like the planning aspect of things.
  • I'm definitely nervous!! So many things have gone wrong during planning that I can't even think about the actual day. I don't HATE planning because I know I'll miss it.. but I can't say I like it either. So much stress. I say at least 5 times a day that I can't wait until its all over and we can just be married and move on with life.
  • I'm not very nervous yet, I think I'm in denial.  Ha!  I am determined to stay calm and cool throughout this process (we'll see how that goes).  I could easily turn myself into a crazy person with all this planning.  Too often you hear that brides hardly even remember their wedding day it flew by so fast - they didn't taste the food, they didn't talk to most of their guests, they don't remember the details.  I don't want that to be me.  So, I'm making sure I have the major things covered - attire, food, music, etc - but beyond that, I'm trying not to be crazy about the little things.  I'll plan as best as I can, but then just try to let it go.

Easier said than done, I'm sure.
  • I'm only nervous about my florist showing up. After we read all of his reviews and booked him, he stopped communicating with us. We got ahold of him and then found a review written in the last month or so that he didn't show up for the wedding. Sigh. He also lied to me about sending me certain paperwork required for our venue. He didn't. Liar. Can't stand him.

He is the only thing I'm really nervous about. In the next week or so I'm going to bring all of our wedding stuff back to our apartment (it is at my mom's house) and organize into boxes and make lists of what is in which box. Otherwise, I'm just super excited!

  • oooh, good idea Staar. I definitely need to oranize my stuff a bit better. I've got bits and pieces all over the place in different boxes and bags. Need to re-organize. Would be a lot easier if everything wasn't at my Grandmother's, God love her for putting up with me over the last year. She's had possession of my dress since I bought it just because she had the space and she graciously agreed to let FI and I take over one of their unused rooms after FMIL kicked our stuff out. I'm only a little bitter about it anymore. hahaha

Heroes-At least you had somewhere for it to go! I had it all in our apartment for awhile and I was just surrounded. ALL.THE.TIME. It was too much.

I'm wondering where in the world I'm going to put the stuff when it comes back over here. Between my Christmas decorations, tree, and presents, I'm not entirely sure where it is going to go, but it needs to get done.

I downloaded these spreadsheets (LINK) from apraticalwedding.com that my photographer (who just got married) suggested. I don't use everything that they have, but I've edited it to work for me. Still need to add more stuff, but it works.

  • Staar gets bonus points! those are awesome! THANK YOU for sharing!! :)
  • Glad you like them!! I think these are super helpful for anyone. Hopefully, we can get some great use out of them.

I linked them and then instead of doing what I planned on, I started updating mine again. :)

  • Staar, I have those spreadsheets from APW too! So very helpful. Smile I'm trying to be like you and organize things into lists and boxes as much as possible.

And I totally hear you on your florist conundrum!!! I have the same bad feeling about my DJ. Well, good luck to the both of us - you may not get flowers and I may not have music, but at the end of the day we'll still be getting married!

  • This is probably because we only started planning in late Septemeber... but I still totally love it! Lol. We have A LOT left to do. I mean, A LOT. But, I have a super organized wedding binder that helps. And I keep a notepad with me at all times so when I think of something I can jot it down...

We can set of the venue the day before, so that's the plan. Then the day of *should* go smoothly. We are having a small wedding, so I think that takes a lot of the stress off.

<div>You know, I haven't really loved wedding planning at any point. I think I'm just a crabby soon-to-be bride. I hate how everyone assumes that wedding planning is the only important thing in my life, and I also hate how everyone has to contact me about everything, just because I'm "the bride." FI is totally willing to help, but everyone leaves him alone! Very unfair to my feminist notions.</div>

  • I am excited beyond belief yet also super stressed lately and right with most of you Ladies- that I just want the planning to be done with!!  I LOVE planning parties and sorts of things like that, but this has been more stressful than I had thought it would be initially.
It's a FT job!!  Serioulsy.  I am SO glad to be doing the finalizing now and have the "big" things out of the way.
I have had also had dreams where I forgot things or people didnt show up, etc.
I'm not nervous about that stuff in reality, but I just want it to be memorable and enjoyable.
I need to relax more lately.  Christmas time doesnt help.  Money sucks and we are paying for most of it ourselves!!
We really are blessed and have had some people really step up to help us out in certain areas...I could go on and on...but overall, I just want it to get here and to be able to enjoy it all.
All of my stuff is stored in our place...mainly in my closet!!!!!  It's a little croweded with it all to say the least, but it's almost here.
Almost time to put those dancing shoes on, Ladies!  WOOT WOOT!
    God is Faithful!
