My H made custom made my engagement/wedding band and worked with the people at Wedding Day in Bloomington in order to get it done. I love it and highly recommend using them. (We also had them custom make H's wedding band and he is thrilled with the results.)

I'd have to recommend where FH got my ring: Jeffrey Jewelry. It is a small business in downtown Minneapolis who, IMO, give great personalized service. FH used a diamond from his grandmother's ring, and they had no problem with it. There is an actual jeweler on site, so things are done quickly (they don't have to send anything out). My ring got sized down in about 2 hours. Anyway, I don't have much experience with other places, but I really liked Jeffrey.

Both H and I got great service getting rings (we shopped separately for each other) at Arthur's Jewelers in Roseville. I highly recommend them!

I think Wedding Day Diamonds has a lot of experience in the custom designing and I think they do it a lot. I got mine custom there and it only took them a few days to make.

The guy who is did my ring is fantastic! He works out of Golden Valley, and because he's not associated with a large retailer, he gives incredible prices! My ring and band were appriased at about $7000 and FI only paid $3500. He can do any type of design you want and really works with you to make sure the metal you choose is what will work best for you. PM me if you'd like his contact info.

My mom has used a jeweler to make sever custom pieces (from pre designed settings and wax molds).  His name is Greg Becklund and he runs Becklunds Jewelers in Eden Prairie (in the Tower Square strip mall by the mall).  I also used him for my engagement ring.  I have a diamond from my FI's grandma, and my mom's original engagement setting.  He has always done beautiful work, is extremely knowledgable, and I highly recommend him!
