string duo or trio?

I am looking for a string duo or tri for my outdoor wedding ceremony, hoping to find someone around $200? Any recommendations? How early do I need to book this? Thanks so much!

I booked the Calla quartet (as a trio) and they did a great job.  I can't recall how much it was now but it was worth it.  I'd book them as soon as you know the date and time for your service.

It depends on what sort of sound you'd like and whether they're different instruments or not!  A violin is like a soprano... a viola is like an alto and a cello is... a tenor?  Probably a bad analogy :)  I was in orchestra in high school and in our chamber group.  If the duo is accompanied by an organ (probably not feasible outdoors Smile) or piano, I think that it would be enough to fully express the music.  There's a lot of beautiful violin duets out there that are gorgeous whether accompanied or not...  That said, having a trio would give you a fuller sound than just a duet unless the duet is a violin and cello or violin and viola!
