PSA - Alan Ray Help

Ladies-
My sister got her dress and our BM dresses at Alan Ray. Her wedding is in 3 weeks and we didn't have our BM dresses yet. I have a happy ending that I wanted to share.

This morning, when we found out about the closure, I pulled out my sales slip from Alan Ray. It had the manufacturer, order date, design #, and color. I called the manufacturer and inquired about our dresses. They had been ordered and not yet shipped. She told me to contact a retailer of those dresses in Columbus and recommended La Jeune Mariee.

I called LJM and they were happy to take the order and worked with Dessy to get the dresses shipped out. They should be going out tomorrow.

I also disputed the charge with my credit card company and should be getting my money back.

For anyone else who was affected, I recommend this course of action. I wish you all luck!

  • I spoke with Alan Ray's attorney today and was informed that all of the brides that didn't receive their dresses would be receiving a claims slip in the next 2-3 weeks.  I was instructed to complete it and return it b/c he will be filing bankruptcy and there will be some sort of pay out involved.

    My mom is having issues with her credit card company b/c the dress was ordered over 120 days ago, she was instructed to collect as much information that she could regarding the closure (ie news articles, etc) to send with the special dispute form.  Just a heads up that you might want to save the articles.

    And one more thing...a HUGE THANK YOU to GIRLS IN WHITE DRESSES!!!!! I went in there today and found THE DRESS during their once a year sample sale!  They were very accomodating and I sincerely appreciated thier help today!  (They have worked out a special deal with a couple of their designers regarding waiving the rush order for those bride's that were affected by the Alan Ray closing).

  • I'm confused about why people won't get their dress...

    Did Alan Ray not order them at all? You'd think that if they were already ordered than the manufacturer would be able to just ship them to your house or something.
  • The message below is what I received from my manufacturer....not very helpful at all!  And I talked with one of the ladies from the below number, and they are telling me I have to pay to order another dress...enough said?

In these cases, the designers have made the dresses, the girls have paid Alan Ray, but the designer has not received the money. This was my friend's experience - she was able to contact the designer and they offered her a discount and will be shipping her dress directly to her.</div>
  • I received confirmation from Mon Cheri that my dress was indeed never ordered in November. They are working with me to provide a letter stating this so we can dispute the transaction with the credit card company.

    Catan Fashions, did call and told me that they would be able to help order another dress, however at that point I had already found my new dress.
