Vendors

I have just gotten engaged and am looking for recommendations for vendors. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Vendors

  • Hi and welcome to the board! Congrats on your engagement!

As far as vendors, give us more of an idea of what type of wedding you want to have and the area of town you're looking at. There's so many great options, help us narrow it down :) Especially since I would work on ceremony and reception locations first, since without those figured out, it's hard to have a wedding!

  • Also, your budget and guest count are huge factors for vendor recommendations. If you give us an idea of your budget/number of guests (if you haven't made a guest list yet do it now!) we will be able to help more.

You have time to plan, so don't rush in to all the details yet - look for big vendors first like the ceremony and reception venues. Those and the catering will likely be your biggest ticket items and determine a lot about the rest of your wedding.

  • Congrats on your engagement!  I agree that you have to make the big decisions first.  We originally looked at different ceremony/reception venues but ultimately decided on an outdoor wedding on my family lake house.  Also, figure out your budget and guest list, it will dictate a lot of planning.  Speaking of planning, if you are hiring a coordinator, do it now.  Our coordinator has been an absolute life saver.  She has helped us find amazing vendors, created our budget, helped negotiate prices (which we never would have been able to do), and is overall my guardian angel.

We are using Heather at Heather Renee Celebrations.  Her email is heather@heatherreneecelebrations.com if you want to talk to her.

When we looked at venues, I really liked several of the County Clubs in our area so I think that's a great place to start.

Also, we are still looking to book our photographer but I really love Lauryn Byrdy.  Here is her info as well.  http://www.laurynbyrdy.com/

    Good luck with planning!
  • WElcome I would look at the post just below you, it is everyone's vendor selections!

Very helpful b/c we obviously chose them for a reason! :)

Budget is very helpful to help you select, I would just start by coming up with your max budget and the number of guests.
  • Welcome and Congrats! It is kind of overwhelming. The first thing we did was sign a wedding planner. She found us all our vendors and has helped with SO many DIY projects not to mention found half of them for us to do. We're using Heather Hansalmann at Every event Elegant.
    Here's her website
    Good luck!

  • The best vendors get good referrals.  However, some of the referrals can be faked.  My suggestion is to talk with other vendors.  If you have a venue picked, ask the wedding coordinator.  You can also talkw with any wedding photographer, DJ or caterer about vendors they prefer.  A personal interview can help but is not necessarily guaranteed to produce quality service.  Sometimes the most expensive vendors should NOT be considered.  Some couples use Facebook to "back track" into brides and grooms who have used a specific vendor.

I would be happy to provide you with my recommendations.
