non traditional bridal shower ideas?

Hi- I am getting married on a cruise in May with (for various reasons) just our immediate families attending. I have a few very close friends who want to put together a bridal shower, however, I am not comfortable with the idea that I am not inviting anyone to the wedding, and therefore, don't feel comfortable with a bridal shower. I have suggested rather we just have more of a girls weekend in the cities here where we do things together (maybe a salon, nice dinner, etc) rather than get together for cake, silly games, and gifts (which I do not need- we already have 2 of everything!).

Does anyone have any suggestions of things we might do during the day (or evening for that matter)? Shout House and Howl are always options for later in the evening, but the only thing I can come up with during the day is a salon/spa and that might not be everyone's cup of tea. There will be about 10-12 of us, ranging in age from 21 to 55, some drinkers, some not.

Thanks for any suggestions!!

This place is really fun for high tea:   http://www.mchatties.com/
I've been there with a group of ladies ranging the same general ages you have and everyone raved about it.  If Woodbury is inconveniant then I believe Murrays in DT Mpls has a high tea as well.

Other fun things off the top of my head:
    • Como Zoo/Conservatory
    • Mall of America (Underwater World)
    • Chanhassen Dinner Theater
    • Go karts/Mini Golf
    • Pick up/borrow an Entertainment coupon book to look for other ideas
It's really going to depend on what you guys like to do.

What about a boat cruise? They have some in Taylors Falls that do luncheons during the weekend I think.

I should add that this will be in April, so I love the boat idea, but might be rather chilly that time of year...

    Keep the ideas coming!

    Paint Your Plate in Edina,
    Manic Ceramic in Lakeville (http://www.manicceramicmn.com/),
    Simply Jane Studio (http://www.simplyjanestudio.com/adultparties.html)

or another painting place.  They all have party rooms where you can bring wine and food.

Sometimes the pieces you paint get expensive, though, so I would check it out before hand.
