local wedding ring engraver for Tungsten ring?

Hello all!

I am thinking about getting my fiances ring engraved as a surprise for our upcoming 10/29 wedding. Problem is that I am having a hrad time finding somewhere that will engrave Tungsten. If anyone knows of a place in the St. Paul area that they have had a good experience with, It would be most helpful! :)

Thank you!

JoAnn

Wedding Day Diamonds was willing to do it but they charge $150. It is such a hard metal that you have to find someone with a laser engraver.

I imagine it would be pretty expensive.  I was under the impression that Tungsten couldn't be engraved because it's such a hard metal-I know that one of the reasons DH wanted a Tungsten ring was b/c it doesn't scratch.

You might try Arthur's in Roseville. I am not sure if they do Tungsten, but they were the only place that worked in silver that could re-size DH's complicated band. They have in-house workers that do a great job. If they do silver (most places dont) then chances are they will do other things.

This. H's ring is Tungsten and we were hoping to get it engraved but they told us it can't be done because it could very easily shatter. If you do happen to find someone that is willing/able to do it, I would ask what kind of warranty  they have if unfortunately something were to happen to the ring in the process.

I agree with Maggie and Jake and nordke.  Tungsten is super hard, but it shatters very easily.  If it can be engraved, you may want to check if an engraving will weaken the band at all.  It if does, there may be a greater chance that it could shatter.

Like I said in my post, you have to use a laser to engrave tungsten. They will not use the traditional engraving methods because of  the hardness and brittleness of the ring. Just make sure to ask for a laser engraver before you let them try.
