DJ HELP!

Neon Express is already booked on our date (Sunday, May 30th, 2010).  Boo.

Does anyone have any suggestions on who I should book?  These are the main things I'm looking for (in descending order):

1. Someone who can read the crowd and will keep the floor PACKED all night.

2. An independently-ownded DJ service, like Neon Express.  I'd prefer not to work with a company like Adagio or Midwest Sound that has a huge roster of DJ's that they use.

3.  $600 or less.  My wedding is on a Sunday, so that may lead to discounted prices.

I've received email bids from DJ Jason Heinrichs, Bill Herman (who I think will be over my budget), Brian Glad, Superior Sound, Zero Gravity Entertainment, and Brian D'Angelo.

ANY information on the above DJ's or others will be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!

I was going to recommend Instant Request (used them for our wedding), but since you don't want a company with a huge roster...they'd be out.

I don't know too much about the other DJ's you listed, except Jason Heinrichs.  A good friend of mine is a Go-Go dancer and her fiance is a DJ and they are both friends with Jason.  I've heard him DJ a few times and have really enjoyed him.  He seems like a really nice guy and he really knows his stuff.  He's very charismatic, so he would be able to keep the dance floor packed all night.
You would probably have a great night if you went with Jason.

    Good luck in your search.

I used Blake Childs of The DJ Pro (http://thedjpro.com/).  He went to my high school and I caught up with him at a bridal show.  They did a great job, the floor was NEVER empty (literally, NEVER), and he was very professional and friendly.  We paid $600 for a Friday night.  Also, their equipment is top-of-the-line, he even has a gorgeous fiberoptic dance floor, it looks like stars!!

ETA: Thought I should mention since siggy's aren't quite up and running and it looked like mine was another girl's at the moment...I'm a former Knottie from last year, we got married on November 28 last year.

mike maken with maken music has a dj named paul young who we will be using.  he had rave reviews from a friend of mine.  he's a bit awkward in person, but you can tell he is good at what he does (he shows you videos of himself in action and is the total opposite of what you meet in person).  i also talked with my venue coordinator and she had worked with him before and had no complaints so we booked him.

I second the Paul Young vote.  We went to the Wedding Fair and won $50 off if we booked him.  if you go to his website he also has a bunch of videos you can watch, which sold FI and I.  He also decided that since we were close to his house, and April was slower, that we wented up booking him for $595.
