Gartner Studios/BRIDES Invite Help Needed!

We purchased these Gartner Studio/BRIDES invites at Michael's this winter (sorry, I don't know how to get the picture in the post): http://www.gartnerstudios.com/skuDetail.cfm?sku=76324We did a test print last night, and it seems that because the paper is slightly textured, the ink is not adhearing to the paper well (it smudges/rubs off pretty easily).  Has anyone else used these invites and run into this problem?  We have an office-quality toner printer, so the next step will be plug in the ink jet, to see if that makes a difference (I'm keeping my fingers crossed!)If that doesn't work, I'll probably have to take them to a Kinkos or something.  Either way, I'm also thinking that we will definitely need a sheet of velum or tissue paper in the invite to protect the printing.  Any advice or help is greatly appreciated!

Although I didn't use those invites, it sounds like you are having the same issue I had. What you can do is change the print settings, you need to set it as a fast draft, this will put out less ink then the normal setting, it will dry faster but look the same. I printed mine and them let them sit out for a day then they were dry.

We're in the process of printing ours (the same ones that you have).  We're using a color laser printer (probably mid-level range...not the cheapest but not professional quality either) to print orange and brown ink.  We haven't had any issues with smudging at all, although because of the textured paper, the ink doesn't always come out in completely solid lines, if that makes sense.  It looks a little like a stamp where a tiny bit of ink doesn't hit in spots.  However, I think it actually makes it look kind of cool, and since we have a slightly vintage theme going, it works pretty well.I would recommend laser over inkjet, as inkjet will almost always smear.  Good luck!

I used the same invites for my wedding. I had no issues with the ink printing on the paper. We used an ink jet printer and used brown ink. Sorry I do not have much advice but wanted to let you know that they did print great for us. Hope you get something to work. I looked into bringing them to kinko's but because the paper is already cut below 8X10 they said they coudlnt print it and also it would have been pretty expensive. Advice: If you dont use the ribbon tied around the invite card., you will not have to have them had cancelled at the post office which will save about 20 cents per invite for postage. Also I got those glue dot things from Michaels and used those to secure the flaps shut. The stickers included are not that sticky and will not keep the invites closed through the mail. Good Luck!

I second the above post on the stickies not working at all. We also bought some reinforcements for that because they started falling apart. We also did not do the ribbons..too much work and I used all the additional ribbon to tie my treat bags with. My printer did not have any major problems, we used a laser printer. We also printed out small wallet sized photos in sepia tone and stuck these on the right inside flap and it looked really nice. Good luck!

I used the same invites - we have a HP printer and I had no issues with printing, except trying to figure out what color brown ink would match the brown on the invites (70, 0, 0) RGB seemed to work great.  I also did not use the brown ribbon provided, but bought fuschia ribbon and used that at the top of the main ivory insert.
