One usher?

We are having a small wedding (max 120 people).  Not including the Pastor and wedding party there will be about 100 guest to seat.  We are trying to keep the wedding party all family. Would it be possible to only have one usher?  I thought maybe if we had my cousins hand out the programs it could work.  The bottom line is we really don't want to have to choose one friend to be an addional usher when everyone else in the wedding party is family.  Please let me know what you ladies think.  Thank you!

You MIGHT be able to get by, but 100 guests for 1 person is kind of a lot. I think I've heard 1 usher per 50 guests.

There is no rule saying you MUST have ushers...people are perfectly capable of seating themselves. You could leave programs in a basket or set one on each seat, and people could find their own seats. If you do decide to go with ushers to seat people, then you probably need two.

I've been thinking about having one dedicated usher and then having the three GM help out during the "busy time" before the ceremony.  Maybe that would work for you, too.

We had some of the groomsmen escort the family, and everyone else just seated themselves.  We only had about 100 guests at our wedding, and it worked fine.

Our groomsmen served double duty as ushers.  We had about 160 guests, and it worked out just fine.

My church said one usher per 50 guests at least.  They get busy seating everyone in that last 10 minutes before things start, so they're running up and down the aisles....

We are having about 80 guests. We went back and forth on having two ushers one usher and then we finally decided "NONE". We are putting out baskets with the programs, and figure everyone is capable of seating themselves.
