Monogram?

So my name is Amber and my FI's name is Derek and our last name starts with an R would our monogram be ARD or DRA?  I always thought the guy's initial should go first, but then I found out it should be the girl's initial first.  I personally think it looks better with the guy's initial first.  What do you ladies think?

In weddings, the lady's name goes first.  For everything - the sign outside the reception hall, the hotel room block - those vendors will automatically say Bride's-Groom's wedding (not the reverse).  So the monogram would be aRd.For things after the wedding, the man's name is first in everything (except for those who want it to be alphabetical and un-biased by male-dominated culture).  So the monogram would be dRa going forward. I thought the same thing as you - I'd rather have our wedding monogram be mRa instead of aRm (ARM!!).

for a monogram i would never know the difference. i think for like mailing - the girl goes first since the guy's name should be nearest his last name. im a rebel in this way but i say just go with what you think looks better lol

So if I register for a monogramed item it should read dRa right?

Kristen - That is what my FI said, he said to do what I think looks best

I would say go whatever you think looks best! People probably won't be correcting you on something like that!Not to steal your post but ours would be jAj which I think looks dumb so I really wanted to do our initials since it will be JWA and JMA we could have the M and W on top of each other, I just don't know how or where I could get that customized..any idea?
