Hi! I saw your post asking about Oak Marsh GC. Not sure if you're still checking it so figured I'd start a new thread. Our wedding is at Oak Marsh next September. I love the neutral decor, it doesn't have to be gussied up, and all of those windows. Natural light was a must for us, so all of the windows coupled with the decks overlooking the pond and the GC were big selling points. We are using the large room - guest list of 270- and doing a heavy hors d'oeuvre reception, so we're not having sit-down tables for everyone. It will make the party flow better b/c the large space is a bit choppy for a guest list as big as ours, as little sweetie mentioned. We are going for more of a cocktail party feel than a traditional reception, so the room layout works well for that. I know thats not for everyone, though, and you'll be able to do a seated meal for 150 there just fine. I've been to a few weddings at the WB Country Inn and it is also a nice place. I will say that I'm not a huge fan of the way they do the bar outside the ballroom by the pool- it gets humid and feels exposed. But that's a personal preference! We didn't check them out when looking at venues, so I can only speak to it from a guest's perspective. If you have specific questions about Oak Marsh feel free to give me a shout here on the boards, I'm happy to help! Good luck! Sarah

Thanks so much for the input! I haven't been to weddings at either place, so I've been hesitant to make such a big decision (and down payment!). My FI is leaning strongly towards WB Country Inn and I'm pretty neutral either way. Since this is something he actually has a strong opinion, we'll probably go with what he wants. I think the size of our guest list isn't optimum at Oak Marsh. We'll be somewhere around 150, which is capacity for the smaller Willow Room. We're thinking that might get a little too crowded. We'd have plenty of space in their larger room, but it might be a stretch to meet the higher food and beverage minimum for the larger room with the small guest list we will have. If that makes sense?!I'm also a bit nervous of how the bar at the WB Country Inn is in the pool area. My FI actually likes the idea since he said it might be nice for guests to be able to get away from the noise in the ballroom and relax with a drink in the pool area. I'm anti-humidity though, so I might see if the bar can be wheeled into the ballroom.I'm sure you're going to love working with Oak Marsh. Krista has been fantastic to work with and always replied to my emails promptly, which was great. I love those decks overlooking the pond and the golf course. That will be beautiful for your September wedding. Good luck with the rest of your planning and thanks again!Dana

Sounds great! And I'm sure WB country inn will work with you on bar placement. its a big space and with a smaller guest list you're likely to have  a lot of options for room set up. Krista at Oak Marsh has been great, so we are looking forward to working with her. Wish it wasn't so far away! Good luck with your planning! I look forward to hearing more about your plans on the boards :)
