Pushy Photographer & reviews

I am currently living in TX.  I was in MN Aug 13-16 for my birthday, cousins wedding and to meet with photographers, cake tastings and DJ for our wedding in June 2010Photographer #1 Dana Schoppe- $1,000 full day coverage, images on website and CD, not much experience with wedding photography yetPhotographer #2 Kristen Anne Photography- $2150 full day coverage, images on website and CD, large coffee table album, small book of 20 images. About 3 years experienceBefore we even met she e-mailed me and said another bride was looking to have her as photographer on same date.  Photographer said to let her know soon. She called me the next day and said she needed to know that day. I told her I am very busy and needed to check my budget and would like to discuss with FI.  She then called me again at 9:30pm on Saturday and said she needed to know by that night.  Very unprofessional, what stinks is that I really did/do want her as photographer. I just e-mailed her to see if she was still available.  Do you think I should go with her since she is so pushy?  I mean how do I even know this bride that wanted to book same day was even real..Photographer #3 Laura Ivanova- $1650 for 6 hours of coverage. Most experienced hence higher price.Queen of Cakes- overall good. $3.50 per sliceButtercream- good, more smooth frosting less flavor I thought. $3.65 per slice. too expensive, probably will not go with them.Checked into Bylerlys.-$3.00 per sliceDJ Brad Howerton- $850 for 8 hours 4pm to 12:00am.  18 years experience. Really nice guy. think we might go with him. Highly recommended by my family members.

I can't speak as to the other photographers, but I did meet with Dana.  I found her to be very upbeat, interested in our vision of the wedding, and great with communication.  Even though we ended up going with Ben Berndt, we liked Dana so much that we contacted her about shooting our rehearsal and dinner, which she was excited to do.  She's going to get a few more candid shots of FI and me all stupidly happy the day before the wedding (not quite e-pics, but along those lines), some nice family pictures with the immediate family when we're not dressed to the nines, detail shots of the church and maybe offer a few suggestions on set-up from a photographers point of view (like the dressing room area that needs a little help), and then some action shots at the bowling alley rehearsal dinner.  We're very happy that she was willing to this for us and we're looking forward to working with her.Good luck picking one, the photographer is a such a hard choice!

Love love LOVE Laura Ivanova, she is super cool and down-to-earth. Her photos (see her blog if you haven't already) speak for themselves.I would ditch the pushy one... There are other DJs that I believe are less expensive that that, so you may wanna look into that further.

Go with your gut on the photographer. I felt kind of pushed with the first photographer and ended up backing out later. I felt like I had to book him right away or someone else was going to get him.  I was an idiot and didn't do all the research like I should have and am still trying to get some of my deposit back.

Go with who you feel most comfortable with - you will be spending all day with them. I met with 6 photographers and within 3 mins of talking to Laura Invanova I felt comfortable with her. He work is good. We have our e-pics this wee so I can only comment on our initial meeting and communication since. If the other photog is pushy know - how would you feel if she was like that on your wedding day?

I personally would not want a pushy photographer.  I would want to work with someone I am comfortable with (especially since you will be with them all day).
