What do you think of this Maggie Sottero veil? Too much?

So I think i found my dress! I did not plan on it this soon, but I love it! My question is about the veil custom made to go with this dress. What's your opinion on it and do you think its "too much"? I love the dramatic look but I'm worried its too much. And if I choose to buy it I have to buy it without seeing it because the store doesn't have it, they have to order it.

Re: What do you think of this Maggie Sottero veil? Too much?

  • I think it depends on whether or not you are trying to be dramatic. The dress itself is show stopping! To me the veil is too much. I think it takes away from the dress. With such an incredible dress I would play down on everything else; you could go without the veil and do something pretty in your hair and have a simple bouquet.

BUT if you want to be dramatic (nothing wrong with that!) than you really need to make sure that everything is dramatic along with it. If you go halfway things may look kind of off.

    I hope this helps!

  • The dress is beautiful. In my opinion the lace on the veil is not great. BUT if you love it get it. I do think the length is just right though...I think you would look really beautiful with one of the manitillas...I LOVE them...not right for my dress..boo!  This one is beautiful but there are just so many that would look good on you

  • PPs are right. It depends on your look. What style are you going for with the wedding?  Mantillas are pretty, but it's not my personal taste. They always makes me think Spain or Catholicism lol. Although I think you did say you are Catholic right? They look beautiful in pictures and ceremonies.. Anyway! I don't think it's too much. I like drama. HOWEVER, I do have trouble picturing mantilla with your yacht reception. The styles seem to clash for me. It is a beautiful veil though, I love the fabric it has such a delicate, light look.
  • Thank you guys for your replies. I'm not sure what look I'm going for. All I know is I tried on this dress and I love it. Its much prettier in person. Since its my wedding I could go with dramatic but I originally didn't consider a mantilla veil. I am having a catholic ceremony so its appropriate. I would take it off for the reception and just have a flower in my hair- I think. Although I really like a finger tip veil with edged beading.
  • The dress is stunning!!!! And I agree with PP's.  :-)

  • I think its gorgeous!  But I'm partial to the veil because that is what I am going with!  =)
  • The dress is very pretty!! but in my opinion i think that the veil takes the attention away from the dress.

  • Decisions!! Decisions!! I do like the train of the veil but I don't like how the model in the pic wraps the veil around her arms in the first pic. I like the second picture where the veil sits behind her arms and lays at her back and drapes down. I also like how the veil doesn't have the lace tracing around the face. But I don't want to over power the dress either. Thanks for your opinions ladies!! I'll take pics in my dress when I go buy it in June :)
