Barclay vs. Kimberly Williams

So we have met with a few photographers and we have narrowed it down to our last two which are Barclay Horner and Kimberly Williams. Just wondering if any one has used them or met with them? Your thoughts both positive and negative about their work, communication and final product would be very helpful. Thanks

I used Barclay and he did an awesome job. I have pics he took in my bio along with a review.

We first booked with Barclay Horner. He used to be really popular on the MN board. We were really also excited to work with him because his artistic ability and photography skills were awesome.Unfortunately he did get a lot of clients, and fell behind on his work. A lot of the brides that I was friends with on this board, did not get their pictures back for months. One even had a child before he claimed he would give her the artistic edits he had been promising the months prior.  I'm not sure if she ever got them. Another bride who was married in the winter, off-peak season, still had issues getting her artistic edits back. In the fall 2008, my DH and I had to make a really hard decision. We did switch photographers because if the poor business side of his work. We lost out on our deposit, but felt 100x better feeling secure with our new photographer. We would have loved to work with him for the great things about him. The bad, I'm afraid, just out weighed the good.Since then, he has improved on getting his product out sooner than later. Still, there are brides from 2008 that do not have their final products. That is the risk you have to take.

I would not hire Barclay. We used him for our May 08 wedding and it took months for us to get our pictures from him after numerous requests. He does take nice pictures but I don't think his work is any better than many of the other local photographers used by brides on this board. There are many detail shots and shots of groups of people that he didn't manage to capture on our day. Your wedding is one of the best days and you plan for many months for the day. After the day, you want to be able to look back at your pictures and reflect back on all the memories. It's really too bad that Barclay doesn't respect the couples that have paid him in full to fulfill his end of the contract and then he drags the couple along for months waiting to finally see their pictures. I don't know why anyone would risk hiring Barclay for their wedding day.

I would also not hire Barclay. His work is good, but his communication, follow-through and professionalism is lacking to say the least. We eventually got our pictures after a few months of making threats and constant emails. I guarantee you can find someone just as good but with a higher standard of work ethics and professionalism.

I love Barclay and the photos he takes.  He did our e-pics and will be taking photos on our wedding day.  I have heard the previous reviews and I do feel bad that they did not receive good service.  I am hoping Barclay has straightened out the kinks by now.  We shall see, but up to this point we have had a wonderful experience and love his work.

we are going with Kimberly Williams Photography. our wedding isn't until next august, but she has been more than willing to answer all of our questions and is flexible within her packages to create just what you want. her communication has been great; she answers e-mails within 1-2 days. i have heard only great things about her!

I used Barclay, as previous brides have mentioned that his follow through to get the good delivered in time was an issue. This was something that we had talked to him about and he did a great job. I thought the wait was worth it.

We used Barclay for our engagement pictures in September 2008. He is very fun, energetic and extremely 'into' his work. We had our initial, color-corrected pictures within 2 weeks and the artistic edits about two months later. Our wedding was August 8 and Barclay came along with a 2nd shooter (Julie). We loved having him at our wedding and are anxiously awaiting our pro pics. It will be 7 weeks tomorrow since the wedding, so I'm hoping we'll have our final product soon!

Chiming in, if you do decide to go with Barclay, I would amend the contract to say that the final edits will be done by ABC date. If he doesn't get them done by that time, then he forfeits X amount of money. This is pretty common in contracts where "time is of the essence." Using those exact words is a nice legal touch. :)

I have heard Barclay has had some issues in the past. However, I loved his work and really liked what I had heard from him so I decied to book him for my wedding next July. I noticed some of these complaints were from weddings in '08 so maybe he has had time to get it together more! I am totally excited about having him for our photographer!! If we have to end up waiting longer for the pics then that is ok.  I figure we will have those pics forever and I want them to be the style and quality that we are looking for even if it MAY mean waiting a bit longer.  :) Oh and the fact that he is VERY reasonably priced and is there for 10 hours helps a lot!FYI: I noticed his contract does state he has to produce his work w/in 60 days of the wedding.  If it becomes a big issue for some reason then we will deal with it then.good luck on the decision!! it took me forever and I almost went blind looking at photo galleries online ;)
