Name Change process

The church found our marriage certificate so it is being submitted today (see pp).  So now my question is, can I apply for a passport (under my married name) before before my SSN card if I have a certified copy of my marriage certificate?

It looks like you can. Check out this website for instructions. http://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html

Yes you can.  I mailed mine in since I already had a passport.  You just have to include your old passport, new pictures, certified copy of your marriage license, and the fee ($75). If you've never had a passport, you have to go in person and bring your marriage certificate.

You might want to get a couple copies of your marriage cert if you're sending one away with your Passport (I would actually recommend going to a service center since you have such a tight timeline) since you'll want another copy to begin changing your SSN and DL.

My DH walked out of the service center with 3 certified certificates.  I (heart) him.  Tomorrow at the service center I will be able to (crossing fingers) apply for passport and change my driver's license.  Then I have a 1/2 day on Friday to go down to the SS office.  Now we are rolling....
