So i saw this poll on another board and thought it would be a great poll to see how everyone met their FI.I met my FI in WI at a wedding when I was 17 and he ws 23.  We spent all night hanging out.  After awhile we found out we only lived 15 minutes from each other.  We then became insperable.

My FI and I met in our freshman music theory class in 1998...and totally didn't pay any attention to each other until we were playing in the same band together and were playing lots of gigs....which was about 4 years after we first met.  7 years later we are getting married!

We actually don't remember!  We ran in the same "music geek" circle in college.  Friends first, dating three years later.

We met on yahoo personals. My dad used to ask me why I couldn't meet a guy at bar instead of on the internet. After I took him and my mom to a local bar when they visited, he stopped asking. Then after meeting DH, he started recommending online dating to other people!

I met my FI through a friend. I was living with my best friend and she started dating my FI's best friend. I asked him if he had any friends he could hook me up with( what could be more perfect then best friends dating best friends!) We went on a double date and the rest is history. We have been together everyday since!

We were stationed at the same base/same building. We knew of each other for a little over a year but it wasn't until we deployed (4 years ago) that we got to know each other and started dating pretty instantly. Been inseparable ever since.

We met while tailgating for a Gopher football game (well...I was tailgating, he was working at the parking company that was selling spots to the tailgaters)!

We both play Ultimate Frisbee and we meet our freshman year of College at an ultimate GTG. We were all watching a scary movie and I am kind of jumpy so I had spilled juice on myself - he came in late and my first words after HI were sorry if I spell like apple juice but i just split on myself. If that didn’t weird him out we were good. We spent the rest of the movie making little comments to each other and the rest is history.

I used to frequently post on the MN Wild message board, where I met his brother. His brother and I went to a game and I went to his house and watched a few games. Just friends, it turned out I worked at the same hospital as his wife and we lived nearby. Finally one day he asked if I wanted to meet his brother and I said sure. We didn't get serious until last year actually, he had to chase me for a few years before I figured out that everything I wanted was right in front of me the whole time.

We met in a biology class the summer he transferred to the university I was attending (how nerdy are we?!?!). After both being super shy and flirting via myspace (instead of in person, lol), I invited him to study with me and a few other classmates for our final. The other classmates couldn't make it, so it was just the two of us (he jokes that I planned it that way all along). I had never had (and haven't since) had so much fun studying for a final! We were pretty much inseperable since then!

I was in FI's Iron Range hometown visiting some friends from college for the New Year's holiday weekend... I went up on a Friday night and was introduced to FI in passing at the bar. I ran into him later that night at a party and we had a great conversation but then he acted like a total goober. New Year's Eve came and went, and on New Year's Day, some friends and I went out for bloodies at a bar out in the woods outside of town. I was wearing some beautiful red gym pants and a very stylish football t-shirt from my alma mater, hair in a bun and sans-makeup. When we walked in, I saw Dave and his friend, sitting at the bar in their snowmobile gear, looking not at all like my type (actually looking like an Iron Range stereotype that I'd normally make fun of). My first thought was "oh no. Not THAT guy! Crap." But eventually we visited, and as we chatted, we realized that we were both accountants, both loved Mexican food and that we lived 15 minutes from each other in the Cities... and I felt a little spark of attraction, like maybe he'd be someone who wouldn't be a dud. So we exchanged numbers and decided to go on a date.The best part about the story is that I seriously looked SO UGLY when he asked me out... and so did he. So our first date was a major improvement! As it turns out, he is not a dud.

My FI and I met at WeFest in Detroit Lakes, MN!  Out of 50,000 people, we happened to be 'camp neighbors'. We made it work for over 2 years- living 8 hours apart!!

We were both in college working at Sam's Club in St. Cloud. He was a supervisor and I was a cashier (he loves telling that part of the story-- it sounds so scandalous)! We didn't start dating til 3 and half years later

We met through a mutual friend.  He was working out of town for months at a time so I met him once or twice and was dating someone else at the time so I didn't think anything of it.  Later the reationship I was in ended and I saw Derek again and thought he was really nice and cute. On new years eve that year I saw him again and for some reason he had a neon green happy new year tiara on.  I am sure it was the fact that he had a few cocktails : )Anyhow everyone was heading off to Solera and he was leaving after I left.  I told him to wear the tiara to the bar and if he did I would kiss at midnight.I had given up all hope after about an hour or two and then I turned my head and then he walked in with that goofy neon green tiara and the rest is history.  I should add that my FI the manliest man you could imagine!

We met my freshman year of college (his junior year) at a bar. Friends for 3 years, and now together for 5! Our parents still think we met through "greek life." Afterall, if my older sorority sisters hadn't snuck me in to meet up with him and his brothers, we wouldn't be here!

We met online. Thanks to all of the rest of you for posting that you met there too. I've been trying for years to get a single friend to try match.com, and she won't try it because she's heard about people who have had bad experiences. I'll definitely let her know how many of you met online!!

We met on match.com too! I am a mom and I didn't want to meet someone at a bar. So I tried the dating sites and my FI contacted me. Then my computer crashed but he continued to chase me! A year and a half later... we are 6 months out from our wedding
