Photographers under $1500

Hey guys! I got married in January and still lurk a bit. I'm helping my friend with her wedding since she's in California and we're currently on photographers. Anyone have any good recommendations? She's looking with a budget of $1500. Minimum of 6 hours but ideally she'd like more like 8/all day. Thanks for any recs you can send my way!

Craigslist usually has a lot of photographers who are budget friendly, and your friend can take them for a test drive by doing engagement photos.

I second Dana Schoppe. She shot our rehearsal (still waiting for pics) and was really fun to work with. Also, check out Ben Berndt Photography. He did our wedding and was AMAZING! Ok, the reason I asked is because my photographer is cheaper in the winter. For August she charges $1800 but that's for all day, engagement pics, editing services, cd, and rights to all the images. I definitely think it's worth it, Callie is aweomse! She also offers a photo booth for $450, which saves a ton of money!www.calliev.com

I love my photog. You can try Bennett Photography.  They are 1500 for all day plus you get an engagement session as well as a locked site for guest to view after your wedding.  Super nice and down to earth.http://www.teeter.com/bennettphoto/

Since Ben and Dana are both booked...Ben's second photographer was really good, too.  Evan from Lumen Photography.  I think he's in Ben's price range.  He was easy to work with and had a very upbeat, fun attitude. www.lumen-photography.com

We're using Callie V also, and I highly recommend her!  Haven't had any pictures taken of ourselves yet, but her examples are fantastic and she is so nice!  She's been great to work with so far, and I can't wait to work together for our Epics and wedding! I know she's not in the $1,500 range (as pp states) but if your friend skips the Epics that might bring the cost down for her.  Just an idea

What, nobody has recommended Sarah Ciccone yet?  She is usually a regular for this question.  I posted the same question a few months back and recommended to talk to her.  I got an all day service (12 hours I think), engagement pictures, and I own all the pictures.  She doctors them up and hands them all over on a CD.  When I booked it was less than $1,000.  I was also one of the first few weddings booked.   Whenever someone asks for a cheap photographer I take a peak to make sure Sarah is getting recommended.  I have seen from these posts that her prices are going up, but I would bet not more then $1,500.   Here’s her site: http://www.sarahcicconephotography.com/

I don't make it back on this board very often, but I can completely recommend our photographer Cadence Cornelius with Ground Floor Photography. She had a lot of experience, but is sprouting out into her own business. Please beware of photogs on craigslist.  That's where we had our first horrible experience.  I'm sure there are good ones on there as well............buuuut I'm very skeptical.

check out simplyphotographymn. Jen did ours, and she did a fantastic job, and is only $100 per hour! She is just getting into wedding photography, so her prices are super reasonable. And our pictures turned out amazing. I was very happy with them.

I am thinking about using Photobox studios for my wedding. i know they have a package thats 1000 for 6 hours.
