Music/Song advice

Hello ladies!!!!

With less than 3 months to go, we are getting close to finalizing our music preferences but I am stuck on a few song ideas...

First of all, are any of you doing a grand march? Our music planning sheet asks for a song for that, but I'm not sure I want to even do one (thoughts..?)

For the father/daughter dance, I am thinking of doing "Father Daughter" by Paul Simon, but I wonder if it is too fast for that kind of dance... I really want to avoid any songs that get overused (Butterfly Kisses...)

I also dont know what to do for the 'parents dance' or the wedding party dance...

Any suggestions would be awesome :)

Thanks so much everyone!

We did "Say Hey" by Michael Franti for the grand march and I did "My girl" for the father daughter dance.  We didn't do a Parents dance, but we did "I gotta Feeling" for the Wedding Party dance which ended up being sort of a snowball.

My cousin did Father-Daughter by Paul Simon, it was great and such a cute song.  It was sort of a funny pace but it definitely fit their personalities.

We didn't do a lot of the dances, and our wedding party didn't want a big entrance. But DH and I came in to OMG by Usher (the part about being so in love, I finally found you, blah blah blah). I Got A Feeling by Black Eyed Peas is a good wedding party entrance too.

What is a Grand March?  Is it when the WP comes down the aisle for the ceremony, or when they come into the reception?

    Cake: It's the latter.

Thanks.  Besides "processional," I don't really know the terms for when the music is played, so I always end up describing it.

BTW, I love that picture of you in your profile, and your dress is fabulous.  I hope I can get such a cool picture from my photog.

We're skipping the grand march, but ditto dcprep on the Black Eyed Peas song.

I've had the same struggle as you on the father-daughter dance. I love "Father Daughter" and if you can handle the pace, go for it. After tons of hemming and hawing we've decided to just combine the mother/son father/daughter dances into one, and since we're having a band, I let the band pick ("Drift Away" by Dobie Gray... I'm not a fan of the Uncle Kracker version, but whatevs. It's one song.)

Also skipping the wedding party dance.

Here were some of my ideas for father-daughter:

"These Are the Days" - Van Morrison
    "Forever Young" - Bob Dylan
"In My Life" - The Beatles
"Have a Little Faith in Me" - John Hiatt
"You Got It" - Roy Orbison

My dad and I danced to "Walk With You" by Edwin McCain.  It was perfect!

We didn't have a bridal party dance.

Our Grand March song was "I Gotta Feeling" by BEP's.

    Good luck!
