alterations = expensive

Mine was $480!  I didn't think it would be so darn expensive.  I needed a hem, dart front, some nips and tucks on the side, cups, under  bustle and professional pressing (my dress needs to be professionally ironed, not steamed). I don't have any beading or lacing, just ruching and its made of silk shantung.  Well, my seamstress has had rave reviews and been in the business for a long time so at least I know it will look good!  I didn't want to risk it by going to some bad place like davids bridal.

    Mine will be around $150.  My dress was a size 10 (sample dress) and getting taken in to a size 4...so lots of taking in.  Getting a bussle, fixing the hem in a couple places that it didn't look even and made it a sweetheart neckline.  I had beading around my bust line...otherwise it's a plain satin dress with some gathering on the lower half.  I go to Louise who is super fabulous!!!  I was surprised when she only told me $150!!!

    wow in hindsight I should have went with her. i was worried she would be too busy being mn bride winner and with all the knot exposure, that and she was a half hour away.  Oh well.  Hope your dress looks fantabulous.

    Yup, ditto Louise! She hemmed mine, nipped/tucked, lowered the back neckline, bustled, sewed in cups, and added an extra layer of fabric to the lining so it wouldn't be so sheer. All that was $150.
