Cocktail Decor

Hey ladies,
I'm not really sure where to post this so I thought I would see what you guys had to say. What is everyone doing for cocktail hour decorations? Everywhere I look at "reception ideas" all I see is the dinner portion, but my cocktail hour and dinner/dance are in two seperate rooms. There will be a few tall tables for people to stand around with one or two lower tables for the older generation that wants to sit. So maybe center pieces? I feel like that isn't much at all.. Any ideas?

We're keeping ours simple. We'll have some taller cocktail tables...like this:

We also got a GREAT deal at Sur la Table on damask print martini glasses (originally $15 each...got 'em for $2 each!!!), in which we'll put like a floating candle or some flowers.

That's also where we'll have our gift table which will include the guest book and escort card sign, so that'll give it some more decor.

I think I'm stealing this from Little Sweetie's wedding, but you could make little fortune teller/cootie catchers with trivia about you and your DH...how did you meet, where did he propose, etc.  Scatter those about to give people something to do/conversation starters.

We have taller cocktail tables and we are doing a tall cylinder vase with colored water blue and a floating candle.  Also lots of votive candles on the tables.
Our centerpieces for the reception are are going to be submerged flowers in cylinder vases so we thought this would tie in nicely and be cost effective because you don't have to pay for additional flowers.
