Flowers - Sample Arrangement?

I'm using Lacey (Intuitive Blooms) for my flowers and I'm wondering if I should ask for a trail arrangement ahead of time?  One of my friends thinks I really should see an example just to make sure our visions are the same.

What do you guys think? Did you see anything before the wedding day?  If not do you wish you had?  Thanks...so many details as the day nears!!!

I was tempted to ask her, but decided not to... and I'm actually really glad I didn't.

The only reason I had thought about it is because I was having a hard time imagining what my bouquet was actually going to look like... and I was afraid that it wouldn't all jive together. I had met with a few other florists who basically listened to my favorite flowers (roses, lilies, hydrangea, and gerbera daisies) and promptly told me that they wouldn't look good together and that I should use dahlias instead of roses, or mums instead of gerbera daisies. Lacey was the only one who said "Oh, we can totally make a bouquet with ALL of your favorite flowers."

The one sticking point I had was that I just couldn't imagine the gerbs in there. In fact, I almost called her like 5 days before the wedding to have her nix them.

HOWEVER, once I got my 'surprise' bouquet... I was beyond thrilled. It exceeded my wildest expectations and was one of my favorite elements of the entire wedding. Plus, it was kind of a cool little surprise... which the bride doesn't often get on the wedding day :-) Seriously, the groom gets all sorts of surprises (seeing you in the dress, etc...) and the bride knows pretty much every detail of everything.

And yeah... the gerbs were one of my favorite parts :-)

Ditto Maybe.  I'm using Lacey as well but strangly haven't been worried about my bouquet.  I love absolutly everything she puts on her FB page so I'm really not worried.  I trust her judgement. Smile

I had thought about having a sample bouquet made for the exact same reason.  However, it would cost the same to have a sample made as the real deal ($200) so I decided against it.  Turns out, I had nothing to worry about! My bouquet turned out absolutely beautiful!  I also chose my florist (Deven Nelson) because I was confident her understanding of my vision/wants for our flowers, so that helped qualm my fears.

I think you're fine without it.  We gave our florist pretty much free range in our arrangements.  We just told them the colors, some certain flowers we liked & how I wanted the bouquets tied.  They took it from there & the flowers turned out amazing!  We got many compliments on them, & I agree with Maybe, it was a fun little surprise for me on the wedding day.  = )

I wouldn't worry about it, either!  I got a vision stuck in my head of what my bouquet would look like and it ended up being a completely different shade of pink peony on the day of from what I had requested... that said, it looked awesome and I loved her selections even more than what I had initially thought I wanted (if that makes any sense).  I completely understand having a very specific vision (we are all brides, after all!)... but I think it's tough to nail it down perfectly with something like flowers that are subject to the whims of weather and availability.  I don't think it's necessarily worth the extra cost as I assume it would be pretty close to the arrangements the day of!

I used Lacey as well and we asked her at our consultation about this. She said she typically doesn't get asked to do mock ups but would be willing to if we felt we needed one. I was comfortable enough that I trusted her judgement.
