PNA Hall and Social Host Insurance

Has anyone had their wedding reception at PNA Hall in NE Minneapolis?  They require you to obtain a social host liability insurance to serve alcohol at their site.  I called my insurance company today, but no one could tell me anything about this.

Can anyone tell me about their process obtaining this insurance through their homeowners insurance or otherwise.

Thanks!

This is why we have our caterer serving the alcohol. FI's mom worked in a bar for several years and knows first hand the liability, I sell Life/DI insurance not property and casualty, but I still didn't want to have to deal with having that liability on our personal insurance. I looked into what you called social host liability insurance, but most P&C people didn't really know what I was talking about, so I decided it wasn't worth the risk, and hired our caterer to do it. Sorry, this doesn't really help your situation, but I would strongly suggest thinking about having someone else taking that liability like a caterer. I wouldn't recommend putting something like this on your personal homeowners insurance.

It is standard liability event insurance, and I didn't consider it a major issue. But I worked in sp. events for years and having to have it for city wide events was commom place. Basically if one of your guests falls and breaks their ankle the venue would not be hled liable rather you as the event host would be held liable if they moved forward with legal action.... Thus the need for liability insurance. It is not expensive to get for the evening and you should be able to pick it up on your homeowners.

Ask the PNA Hall for any advice on picking it up for the evening.
