Show me your menu for a summer wedding!

I just met with the chef and events coordinator at our reception venue to plan our menu. The food is going to be amazing, I have no doubt, but I'm afraid that our menu selections might be too "heavy" for summer. FI and I picked foods that we LOVE, so I'm happy about that, and everything will be air conditioned so people won't be hot while they're eating dinner.

I don't know, just worried!

Thanks!

We're getting married at a steakhouse, so our menu consists of steak or chicken w/ potatoes and veggies.  I guess you could say ours is "heavy" as well.  But, I don't really think your guests will question your menu at all.  No worries! Wink

For my late June wedding we are doing Chicken or Steak with rosemary potatoes and vegetables.  I wouldn't worry too much about making it a "light" meal.  Most of your guests will appreciate having something substantial to eat.  It sounds like you have great choices.

I thought the same thing! I consider our food somewhat heavy, but it tasted sooooo good. And people like free meals anyway!

    Our menu:

    Soup:
Minnesota Wild Rice with Grilled Chicken, or Vegetarian Tomato Basil

    Salad:
Hearts of romaine with Gorgonzola cheese, bacon, red onion, cucumber and diced vine-ripened tomatoes, served with zesty Parmesan peppercorn dressing

    Entrees:
Marinated strip loin roasted medium rare, hand carved with rich bordelaise sauce, and sauteed breast of chicken with hazelnut cream sauce. Served with a variety of roasted potatoes and white asparagus bundle with carrots
    or
Portobello mushroom, eggplant, yellow squash, tomato, zucchini, and fresh saffron risotto with balsamic syrup

    Buttercream Wedding Cake:
Bailey’s moistened devil’s food cake with chocolate Irish creme mousse, or vanilla cake with rich pumpkin creme layers

We are having Brasa cater, so cocktail apps will be smoked cheese and meats with crackers and breads, chips and guac, then for dinner yummy smoked chicken and beef, with some southern sides; cornbread, curry chick pea salad, cabbage salad  (both nice and light for a summer evening), and probably rice and beans. We haven't finalized our menu, so it can still change, but roughly that.
