Brasa

I think Qston and maybe a few others mentioned using them for catering, and wanted to find out a little more. Their pricing looks too good to be true, so I wanted to make sure they don't hide any HUGE fees or anything.

I noticed that the catering menu mentioned that they bring food in "disposable" containers or something, but you can upgrade to ceramic for an additional fee. Does anyone know how much that ends up costing? It sounds like they don't have warmers, so I'm guessing plated or family style would be a lot better than buffet... no? Do they actually have serving staff, or are they the kind of caterer that essentially drops the food off and bails?

I'll probably contact them directly with a lot of the same questions... but since I'm not 100% sure what venue I'm going with yet... I didn't want them trying to make the hard sell before I know what the heck I'm doing.

On a side note... I have a lot of relatives from South Carolina that will be really happy if I give them cheese grits and fried green tomatoes at my wedding!

The nice thing about Brasa is they won't try and make the hard sell, they will give you all the info, and let you make up your mind - no pressure!

Their pricing is pretty much awesome, and something they mentioned to us that I didn't see on their menu, so I need to confirm this is in my contract, is that for orders over 100 people there is a 10% price break?

As for how it will be served, you can choose... you can hire their servers - i can't remember what their pricing was but seemed pretty reasonable (think it was like $20-25 per server per hour), or rent chafing dishes through them, or on your own. (I think they provide little disposable warmers, basically like a little metal hanger contraption with a sterno was how i envisioned what he described- probably ok for an outdoor/picnic style gathering).  He didn't recommend family style as I had asked about that, and I think the reason had to do with quantity,  in that you would have to order more food to do family style, and I am not sure if they do plated, but their food is really already prepared buffet style at the restaurant, so it should translate quite well to a wedding buffet. (i am hoping!)

    Good luck!

I haven't used them for catering, but I did eat there a few times.  My only input so far is that they are DELICIOUS.  We're thinking about using them for the rehersal dinner?

Mmmmm I love Brasa. Even as a vegetarian, I always leave full and happy. Delicious.
