My dad had a CAT scan this week.  His has another tumor in his lungs (metastasized from esophageal cancer), and now the cancer has spread to his lymph node in his chest.  I am not sure what the doctors would do now, if anything.  He had his pain meds quadrupled in strength to get through the day.  He's not a candidate for more surgeries.

Summary - He was diagnosed with esophageal cancer 5.5 years ago.  [NOTE: if you or a loved one gets repeated heartburn or acid reflux - it's serious!]  Since then he's had a round of chemo/radiation, his esophagus surgically removed and stomach pulled up, cancerous tumors showed up in lungs, another round of chemo, and now this verdict.

I'm so sorry to hear that - we knew that things were bad with your dad, but this sounds worse than before. Let's hope he gets to see his grandkids.

I'm very sorry to hear that things aren't getting any better for him. I hope at least the increased dosage of pain meds is easing his discomfort. My thoughts are with you right now.

Shannon, I'm so sorry for the bad news.  The worst is seeing your loved one suffering and in pain.  I've been there, so I know what you're going through.  Keep your head up, girl.  We're always here for ya.

Thank you all.  I did just fly out there January 13-18 this month.  I was going to fly out after the babies were due (April), but I think the next flight will be a last minute thing when my sisters call me to tell me it's time.  *choke*  Perhaps I can fly out for a quick weekend in February too.

Mom asked if I'd make the photo slideshow for the dinner after the wake (it's typical on my dad's side to have a huge reception after the wake with dinner and drinks).  I'm glad I was at home because I had to bawl for awhile.  FI will help me make the slideshow.

Gosh, I am so sorry to hear that news.  It took my breath away.  That really sucks.  My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.  I experienced similar with my Mom a few years ago. I wish you strength when you need it and support from your FI and friends. Do remember to care for yourself or allow yourself to be cared for when it's offered. I'm sending you peace and strength . . .
