Pimp your Beauty Tips

My winter look is getting a little lack luster.  Any favorite products or tips?

Here's mine:
1. Make-up: Covergirl Outlast Lip Color.  Amazing.  Lasts all day.
2. Nail: Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength Nail Enamel.  Stops chips and breaks. Period.
3. Hair: Rinse hair with vinegar (just like a clarifying shampoo).  Then mix 1 egg white with a little EVOO and mayo.  Spread on hair or dry skin and let sit for 10 minutes.  Wash really well after.  It sounds gross, but my hair just shines after and feels very thick.  The protein helps with shine and the fat with body.

Your turn.  :)

I really like philosophy's products. Their Hope in a Jar works wonders for me. I also really love their microdelivery peel kit makes my face feel like a baby's butt...seriously sooo smooth and healthy looking! LOL.

I'm not one to scrimp on makeup. Every once in a while, I'll try the cheapies, but I always go back to my tried and true. As far as makeup is concerned, I am now using Bare Minerals. I was a skeptic for awhile, because any mineral products I tried just wouldn't work with my oily skin. I finally tried a sample of this stuff awhile ago, and I was hooked. For non-mineral makeup, I use Bobbi Brown's foundation stick, and pretty much everything else Lancome (concealer, dual finish powder). I use Nars blush, and Sisley bronzer. Mac or Lancome eyeshadows (though I prefer Mac), and either Urban Decay liquid liner or Stila smudge pots. For lips I'm more of a gloss girl, and love Lancome's juicy tubes. I do have a couple of lipsticks for special occasions from Lancome and Chanel. Sephora is my friend. I really like makeup, lol.

Oh, and I almost always use a primer. I haven't found a favorite yet, but have tried several samples of various kinds (thanks Sephora!). The Bare Minerals one is pretty good, and Nars has a good one that I have currently been using. Benefit's Dr. Feel Good is the only one I've ever purchase, and though it suggests applying it over makeup, I use it under my makeup.

I use Smith's Rosebud salve for lots of things: dry skin, lips, cuticles, and as an eye cream at night if my eyelids are dry (which happens often).

I use Johnson's baby lotion as my everyday moisturizer. They have lots of different scents now so I don't smell like freshly bathed baby all the time :-).

For shampoo/conditioner, I am always mixing this up. I'll use Aveda products, and various others like neutrogena. My all time faves though are from Frederik Fekkai. Expensive, yes, but NOTHING makes my hair look/feel/smell better. I've used the protein, glossing, moisture and other types, and they are all fab. My fave product of theirs is the Shea Butter hair mask...seriously...A...MAZING. It smells incredible and leaves my hair manageable, silky, shiny and fabulous!
Since I dye my hair, I usually give it a boost with ClayPac color conditioner in Red (which you can apparently only get online, or in select Rocco Altobelli salons in MN).
My little cheapie secret is Hask's Henna 'n' Placenta conditioner packs. You can get them for like $2 at Walgreen's and I think Sally carries some other products of theirs. Basically its a deep conditioner, and leaves my hair looking just as good as the Fekkai hair mask...for a fraction of the price! I will use it about once a month or more if my hair is extra fried (summer). Its nothing fancy, and its not as gross as it sounds...it actually smells really fresh and clean!

Annnd now you all now like my entire beauty regimen, lol!

I love Bare Minerals as well.  I usually just use their foundation and maybe the mineral veil.  I do my make up around 6 am and it still looks decent when I get home at 5:30.  My winter hair tip is to just never use shampoo.  I have curly hair, so it's naturally pretty dry.  It just gets worse in the winter....  if my hair starts to feel gunky from the products I use, I'll shampoo maybe once week or every week and a half?  Otherwise I just let my conditioner rinse out everything daily.  I also use apple cider vinegar sometimes.  Makes my hair feel amazing (I doubted it before I tried it...)

Nails- love the Sally Hansen products.  I can't think of the name now, but it's a cuticle saver (it's in a light pink long tube... comes out like a gel on a brush type thing.)  And the Diamond Strength polishes are my favorite!  They saved me many times when I was breaking my horrible nail-biting habit!

Although, I must admit... my current winter beauty fix is my week in the Dominican with family. :)  My MN winter-parched skin is just soaking up this humidity!

My solution to dull dry skin in the winter is to make a paste with baking powder and water and apply to my t-zone. I let it dry for a few minutes to loosen up my blackheads, then lightly scrub it off to remove dead skin. Then I put some lemon juice on a cotton swab and spread over my t-zone. The citric acid helps remove the remaining dead skin. When that drys I put on my moisturizer - I love Dr. Hauschka products. I have very sensitive skin and this is the only thing I've found to remove dead skin and not aggravate the redness in my skin. Plus it's a super cheap and natural remedy!
