I see on the budget post you said Carlson went up $3 a plate on food.  I talked to them probably 3 weeks ago to confirm that prices hadn't changed since we booked.  They confirmed that food was not going to go up this year, but drinks went up $2 a person.

If food went up $3 a plate - I might FREAK OUT!

What is the price they are quoting for chicken?

I'm also getting married at Carlson Towers and the food went up at the beginning of the year.  The cheapest plate is $29.00 now, some of the chicken plates are more than others--I'm not sure which one you were planning on.  I booked at the end of 2008 and prices have gone up twice on drinks and once on food and I can't lock in anything til June (2 months before wedding) It really sucks! :(

I agree with everything Samatson said!! Chicken is around $29-30 a plate. We are hoping to only have 1 option (chicken) but a lot of hors de'vours before dinner, having steak, sushi, shirmp, etc. so everyone can have something they like. I don't like that our venue makes you pay $1 extra per person if you want another entree. I'm hoping they won't up anything before we get married.

Samatson- what is the 2 month price lock thing? We are 3 weeks away from being 2 months.

I'm at a different venue, but I'm a little surprised by this post.  They didn't allow you to lock in the prices at the time of your deposit?  That seems a little iffy to me.  Have you asked them to offer you the prices from the time you booked??

Yup that was one of the first things that I asked because the exact ame thing happened to my brother. Most venues that I have heard of don't lock in the food prices.

Veijes--Dawn told me when we have our "wrap up" appointment, which is usually about 2 months before the wedding, we will get food/beverage prices locked in.  But she also said food prices weren't scheduled to go up again until the beginning of next year so we should be safe! Hopefully!

Ok - I feel better now.  The prices then haven't gone up since the last time I checked.  We have our meeting scheduled in April.  We have decided to only offer 1 entree as it's cheaper, but mostly because it allowed us to keep the cost at an amount we know vs variable depedning on what people choose and now we don't need to keep track of it.
