Price per invitation?

Invitations are next on my checklist, and I don't know what to expect when I go look.  Help me out, and tell me about yours:

What did your invitations end up costing, per invite?
What does that include?
Did you need to use extra postage?
Where did you get them?
How much DIY did you do?

TIA!!!

We decided to DIY quite a bit and bought our paper through Anchor Paper.  They have a huge die cut we can use to create the invite (PIB).  We'll be printing our own and sticking it all together.  They came out to about $85 for 100 invites, but that includes a full ream of the text weight paper and 250 envelopes (the smallest quantity.)

    This includes:
100 sheets: 8.5x11 brown heavy cardstock for the outer "envelope"
50 sheets: 8.5x11 for the orage backing to the actual invite. (2 per sheet)
25 sheets: 8.5x11 cream heavy cardstock for RSVP postcards (4 per sheet)
25 sheets: 8.5x11 dark orange cardstock for accom/map insert (4 per sheet)
1 full ream (500 sheets) of ivory text weight to print the invite on.  We'll probably use this for our programs and other paper stuff throughout the wedding too.
1 box (250) nice ivory envelopes.

We tested our mock up and the postage will be the same standard $0.44! And we can use the cheaper $0.28 stamps for the rsvp postcards!

Allll togther, with postage, it should be about $1.50 per invite.

We are having somebody do a invitation suite package for us off Etsy, because I am absolutely horrible with DIY stuff, especially paper items.  We're paying $465 and for that we are getting the following:

75 flat panel layered custom created invites with 4 inserts, a belly band, and addressing on the outer envelopes, return addressing, and addressing on the RSVP envelopes
Escort Cards (as many as we need)
Table numbers (as many as we need)
Programs (as many as we need)

I don't know how to break the invites down pricewise since it's all a package deal, but I know that we will be able to use regular postage on the invites (she sent me a sample and I got it weighed) and on the RSVP cards.

We are going DIY for our invites and are still in the process but I can tell you what we have so far.

What did your invitations end up costing, per invite?
We just have the pocketfolds done any they ended up being .38 each and we have scraps we are going to use from that for other paper things.

Did you need to use extra postage?

Yea we will likely need extra postage :(

    Where did you get them?

We are getting our supplies thru Anchor Paper

How much DIY did you do?
All - it will be a ton of work but we have the time. This way too we are getting exactly what we want.

You might want to try posting this on the DIY board or the Invitations & Paper board! There are a ton of brides on there focusing on invitations.

I found someone on Etsy to design our invite, map, rsvp, monogram, accommodations, and table numbers for $40.

I then printed them out at Kinkos on their cardstock for $123. (note since we used their cardstock which is ok not what i really wanted we didn't have to pay for paper from paper depot)

Then I bought envelopes at paper depot for $30.

I had 150 printed so I guess the cost would come out to: $1.28 per invite.

I am thinking we will need 61 cent stamps and then 28 cent stamps for the rsvp.

I definately suggest to check out Etsy for invitation design!!!

I decided after looking at DIYing my invites that there was no way I would make it through doing them myself.  Total they came to 2.50 and invite but it included everything and took only a few hours to set-up and order.  Here is what we got.

    225 invitations
250 outer envelopes w/ return address printed
250 lined in blue inner envelopes
    225 RSVP card
    250 RSVP envelope w/ address
    225 Reception card
    350 personalized thank you cards
    375 thank you card envelopes

All the printing was done in blue (special color) and with raised thermography print.

In my opinion is was well worth the added cost not to have to DIY it myself.   There was no way I had either the patience or time to get them done.  We ordered from Ann's Bridal Bargains with a 15 percent coupon code.  My only suggestion with this vendor is to check out each individual invitation you like.  I found many of them were extremely cheap and look and felt like it.  The one we decided on was heavy paper and really nice quality.  You really have to order samples and check out each sample from this company because the quality is not consistent throughout. But, we love the ones we got and they are very comparable to the ones we looked at with other companies for 2-3 times as much money.  It was also a great company to work with.  Good luck on your invitation search.

We had our designed by aquamark design in Excelsior.  They design, print, and address your invitations..  We didn't want to pay the cost to Do it ourselves with the cost and quality of our printers and the ink, we didn't want to risk them looking like well, crap.  So we paid $3.50 an invite for all the services including invite, map, details card, reply card, pocket envelope, outer envelope, and reply card envelope and our monogram stickers to go over the ribbon.  I commend  anyone who makes their own invitations.  I just know I am a perfectionist and we would be spending hours and hours on them!
