Help! I cant decide between 2 venues!

My fiance and I are trying to decide between the Calhoun Beach Club and the Lafayette Club.

The drawbacks to Calhoun are:

we could only afford the Solarium, so there would probably be another party down the hall.  

We would have to use the patio for cocktail hour- and that is weather permitting.

We are expecting about 230 people, so calhoun could be a little tight.

We are worried that people might get confused with all the traffic around Calhoun during June.

The space is just so great though!!! Exactly the colors!

The drawbacks to Lafayette:

The carpet in the Lakeview room is dated.

Is the lighting that good?

Is the food good?

The chandeliers still take my breath away!!!

If you have ANY advice, or if you had your reception at either place- please let me know!!!!

I voted Calhoun beach club because for the reasons you had cons/questions about the Layfette Club. I went to a wedding there and the food was decent....we had a steak and chicken combo and the best part of the meal was the vegetables. Also, the candeliers, I didn't even notice them on the wedding day.

 The cocktail hour was in the hallway, I'd rather take a chance with the weather and have an outdoor cocktail hour (what we are doing at the Rotunda). If you make a good map for the Calhoun Beach Club, I think your guests will be fine.

But...the wedding I went to at the Layfette had over 230 people and it was very spacious....
