Designating Meal Selections

For those having plated meals, how are you planning to designate meal selections for your guests so the servers know what to give them?  Are you working this into escort cards?  I truly don't think all guests know to place these cards at their tables so what if they don't and they toss them or something?  Does your venue help you to work this out somehow?  I'm clueless, as you can tell :)

We aren't doing meal selections, but if we were our venue would just require some sort of designation on the escort cards.  Different colors, embellishments (like a different color jewel) or different design.  Just make it simple and clear that can be easily seen, especially if there is going to be dim light at your reception.

I think most/all people know to put their placecard in front of them at the dinner table.  I can't imagine not, ya know??

    Hi there,

I've been to several weddings where we've had to show the server our escort cards, and it's really no big deal. There are some cool ways to designate -- little stick-on jewels (as previously suggested) or cute/funny stamps (tiny cows, chickens, and corn) are two ways I've seen it done.

I have never seen people throw them out but perhaps you could give a master list of names to the staff that in the event the guests forgets they could look up their name ?!?

We had different colored circles on the escort cards to designate the food choices.  As far as I know, there weren't any issues in people getting the food they wanted.  Our venue also made a few extra of each food choice just in case they were needed.  I think that half the time, people don't even remember what they ordered and are fine with whatever is place in front of them!

We are using place cards that have a little stamp on them that indicates meal choice. The stamps are a little chicken for chicken, a little cow for beef, etc. We got the stamps at Paper Source. I hope the guests think they are as cute as I think they are! :)

I'm just embossing our design in different colors on the escort card based on the menu selection.
