Has anyone heard of or used...

I'm wondering if anyone has heard of Hickey Photography? If so what are your thoughts on him? One of FI family members wants to give us a certificate towards 4 hours of his services (which would really help out our budget :) !!) What I've seen of his portfolio and blog I like and is the style I'm looking for.  I'm just curious about whether anyone here has experience with him.

EDIT: Also, is it common for photogs that state their images are copywrited and cannot be used without written permission to allow you the rights to print your own images? Is this something that is usually negotiable?

Any photo reprinting place will expect a letter or something from the photographer giving you permission to print and won't print your photos without this. Its pretty common from wedding photogs around town that you get all the high-res images with unlimited access to do what you want with them, so if he won't offer that, go with someone else that will.

His prices are pretty competitive with what a lot of women on this board are paying, but you can find plenty of cheaper photographers, too.

Is there a reason they are giving you 4 hours with this guy, and not just 4 hours with whoever your dream photographer is?

The reason it's 4 hours with this guy is because FI family member bought the certificate without talking to us or anyone first (there might've been a promotion too, I'm not sure. And there's another wedding in the family coming up soon so she figured one of us might use it). I think it's 4 hours for his services, not necessarily just towards weddings, so if we don't use it maybe it can be used for family photos or something. But, it would be really nice if this is something that works out for us because it would save us a good chunk of $ and time.
