Place cards

For place cards I think we'll be doing Mr & Mrs Joe Blow, Table 4 on 1 place card.  So 1 place card per couple.  There is no meal option as everyone is eating the same thing so this will work.  So for dating couples should I do 2 cards? Joe Blow Table 4 and Susie Q Table 4.   When there are children did you do Mr & Mrs Joe Blow and family, Table 4 so all on one card?

I'm probably in the minority here, but we only did place cards for immediate family and the wedding party.  However, we had the whole place to ourselves, with more tables and chairs than there were people, so no one had to split up pairs or sit by someone they didn't want to sit by.  It went really smoothly.

As for putting multiple people on one card, if the purpose is to "save seats," I think one card per person would do that better.  If you have a family of four, all listed on one card, then half the table would have to be covered by that one card.  Just my two cents.

I'm with hkiesling - I'm a big believer in one place card per person versus per party, for the sole reason that it's easier as a guest to see how many seats the party takes up versus assume X # of seats are open and/or deal with seat saving with coats/tipped chairs/etc.

They're pretty cheap, so IDK why you'd want to only do one per family, not to mention all the issues you're trying to address here.

Ditto PPs - I think that it is appropriate for one card per person.  I even had cards for my 5 year old cousins who thought it was "so cool" to have their name on something.
