Anyone have any suggestions for cheaper florists in the St. Paul area?

Not in St. Paul but Artistic Floral in Edina is AMAZING. Maybe they would deliver to St. Paul?

I would check out SW Floral Design (http://swfloraldesignllc.com/). She is not out of Saint Paul but she is delivering my flowers to White Bear Lake and to Minneapolis so I think her territory is all twin cities.

She can do as much or as little as you want and is willing to work with any budget.  She'll also give you ideas on stuff that you can DIY and/or ways to cut costs.

Intuitve Blooms. Considering Lacey (the owner) lives in the western suburbs and is willing to do my wedding in Stillwater, I think she'll do just about anything in the metro area.

We decided to go with I Do Flowers (her name is Alissa); her prices were VERY reasonable and she really seemed to "get" our style. We also met with Deven Nelson, who was in a similar price range, and I know other knotties have raved about her before. The other budget florist we met with was Jeni from Simply Stated Elegance, and I was less impressed with her than the other two at our meeting, which was only compounded by the fact that she never emailed us an estimate (and we didn't bother to follow up since we didn't really click anyway). But I know other ladies on this board have worked with her and loved her, so YMMV. I'm pretty sure all 3 will travel within the MSP metro area.

I was surprised to see that someone said they had a bad experiance... with Jeni at Simpply Stated Elegance.  I love her- she is very thourough and is a joy to work with.  Her vase rental was super inexspensive and I just love her.

I highly recommend Susan Rowell of Fairie Flowers in St. Paul.  She has been so much fun to work with and I am excited to see the finished product 2 weeks from today!

I used Jeni from Simply Stated Elegance for my wedding and she was just great.  She went above and beyond my expectations and the flowers looked amazing!!!  (Plus her prices are really great!)  I would definitely recommend her!
