Neon Express

I just met with Dave last night to see if we would like to hire them as our DJ.  Was wondering if anybody has input on whether to use him or his employee?  Dave is a bit older and it seems like his staff employee is a bit younger and maybe a bit more hip.  Anybody have any input on this?  We haven't fully decided if want to go with Neon Express yet...but it would be nice to know what the other DJ is like.  Feed me info :)

a DJ was not important to us; in fact we almost didn't get one.  So when we decided to go for it, we just went with the cheapest out there.

Although Dave has been pretty nice, he is extremely slow with responses to my emails.  I know DC*Prep didn't have a great experience.

However, most of the girls on here use Neon and most have really great responses.

I've been to a couple of weddings that Dave has done and the dance floor is always packed.  I don't have any experience with employee though...Mark?

I had Dave for my wedding and he was great! I didn't think anything of his age. He played the "hip" songs. I didn't want a DJ that was super talkative all night and bugging everyone to get on the dance floor. He had a great amount of balance (made announcements when necessary, didn't go over the top) and our dance floor was pretty packed for a Sunday night wedding.

Yeah, I know dcprep had a really bad experience, and I've talked to a few people IRL that weren't all that happy w/him. Though most of the ladies here have great things to say...

We just booked Dave last month for our April wedding.  I guess the way he does it is he takes the first booking for each date, then if someone else wants the same date, he gives it to one of his employees.  From what FI and I could tell, he's got a pretty good handle on what people want to hear.  No, he's not a pretty young guy, but does he really need to be?  It's a wedding, not a night club.

I had Dave from Neon Express work at my wedding. He was accommodating to our requests but his system needs some updating.  Let's just say you get what you pay for.  Also, when we met with him, he told us we could request whomever we wanted to DJ. Good luck!

We recently booked Dave for our wedding.  When we met with him, he was hilarious and easygoing and addressed our concerns regarding bad reviews on this board in a very professional way.

How on earth does he explain music constantly skipping throughout the night? Our experience wasn't just a one-time fluke...

Dave was the DJ at our wedding last month.   A DJ wasn't super important for us so we were very happy with the prices.  I thought he did a pretty good job and the dance floor was packed most of the night.  It depends how much you want to spend and how important music is for you.  We used the $350 system because our venue was pretty open and we had expressed concern about whether there would be echo or delays for the speeches with the cheapest system.  I didn't notice any problems all night long and he played a good mix of music all night - earlier in the evening he did a good job getting the older guests on the dance floor and saved some of the more "hip" music for later when a lot of the older guests had gone home.  We had a good experience and I'm glad I didn't break the bank on the DJ.
    Married 9/3/2010!!
