is anyone doing assigned tables/seating?

I think we need to do assigned tables with the diff meal choices - we are looking to have appx 200 guests.  When I see peoples escort cards, so many people look like the have 50 or less. If i do escort cards in 2 diff colors that signify the meal, wouldn't I have a huge table of them?  Also, if I say the "jonson" family, can i stack multiple business cards togetgher if they have like 4 kids? Just wondering how everyone else is doing this...:)

I'm doing a card for every guest, but that's cause I'm doing photo escort cards with a picture of each guest. :)

I think most people do one escort card per couple/family if you are just doing assigned tables and not assigned seating. I would specify families like this: The Greg and Tracy Johnson family. That way if there if more than one Johnson family they will be able to differentiate.

Also, check with your venue as to how they want you to do the cards to signify each meal. Our venue prefers that we use letters or pictures instead of colors because the lighting is a little darker at our venue. So just ask your venue coordinator what most people do, they'll be able to give you good advice. :)

We had about 150 people and did escort cards. I don't think it took up too much space? I know they were pretty crammed together though.

ETA: If you're using these to signify meal choices, you'll probably need one for each person, right?

we will be doing assigned tables and different options for meals. We are going to make escort card boards so that it will take up less table room. I have a pic of an inspirtation in my Bio.  And as for the meal choices you can do anything you want. I will be doing different colored flower stickers on each one. But I have seen people have different colored cards, or even have the food item listed at the bottom of the escort card. As for putting families and couples cards stacked together, I am sure that is completely fine. :)

i did escort cards for each person and used different color ribbons to signify meal choices.  we ended up having to use two tables for 160 place cards, but we also had favors between each row of cards.

you could also make posters with the table numbers and have the place cards at each setting.

We're having 193 guests and made an escort card for each person. We did escort card boards instead of tables, though, which saved us a ton of space. I have pics in my bio under DIY

We did escort cards and assigned seating... We ended up making 200 cake pops and then they had a tag hanging off of them with the names and seat numbers. THey were displayed in a giant cake pop stand. They turned out super cute and people loved them (a LOT of work though!)

We had one meal choice for all but still did escort cards for each person.  Our venue has this buffet table (furniture, not just a random table) that they use for them so we didn't have to find extra room.  I personally am not a fan when you get one card for a family unit.  Maybe I'm just a little too feminist or something but it bugs me when I'm identified as Mr. Witty's family like I'm some sort of property or posession.

We did assigned tables, but we had a buffet vs plated meal with options.

Another way I've seen assigned seats w/ meal selections this work is to have a board with assigned tables out front on a table. Families find their table together and then the assigned seats are all marked with a place card. If you don't want to do a large table with tons of cards that might get backed up, this is a good way to expidite.
