Elm Creek Chalet

Hi-

Has anyone used, or been to, a wedding at the Elm Creek Reserve Chalet in Maple Grove? It looks like a great option and pretty cost friendly but it would be nice to hear from someone that has been to a wedding there. TIA!

I've never been to a wedding at the Chalet, however I have been to Elm Creek Park Reserve. It is very beauitufl there and lots of picture opportunities. I am sure the space is beautiful though, it looks great from the pictures!
    Good luck.

I had highly considered having my wedding there, but there were 3 reasons I decided against it.

    a) they say it holds like 200 people, but if you see it in person, it's REALLY hard to imagine that many people fitting in there
    b) it seemed like they had a lot of hidden add-on fees - the final cost was going to be like $600 more than what was advertised on the website
    c) they have limited options for onsite ceremonies, unless you want to pay extra for renting another spot in the park (only a concern if you're doing on onsite, outdoor ceremony)

With all of those negatives, though... it's still a REALLY cool space.

My fiance and I decided to have our reception there. I think it's gorgeous and it's a pretty good price compared to what other places charge. I didn't think there we're any add-on-fees that didn't make sense ($300 deposit that gets refunded, like a $200 charge because we're serving alcohol after 7 p.m.) The caterers that they work with are also good. Our guest list is about 190 and the layout they recommended for the tables and DJ area and buffet all seemed like it would work nicely. Anyways I think it's an amazing place. Hope that helps somewhat :]

That's all good to know! I was wondering how you are going to go about doing set-up for the day- decorations, your own booze, etc. I know it is open at 10am, but I just don' t see myself having time to go there on my actual wedding day and decorating. Are they willing to help with any of that? Or is it all left up to you?

Also, what caterer are you going with? I have heard good things about Divine Swine.

I am hoping to keep the number of people to around 150, so that should work well. Also, we will probably be getting married in a church so an on-site ceremony shouldn't be an issue.

    Thanks girls!

Have you toured Elm Creek? As far as the booze my fiance and I are just planning on buying a bunch and putting it in the Coke fridge they have that you can use if you want to. The extra booze will go in the fridge in the back and we're planning on having some people that we're close to be in charge of making sure it's stocked and such.

As far as the set up day decorations my plan is to do what my sister did (she had hers at the three rivers park district place in eden prairie) and have my bridesmaids (all my sisters) mom and close friends go there in the morning to set things up. I know that the place will set up and take down the tables for you though so you don't have to worry about that.

We're planning on using Divine Swine, we haven't met with them yet but my sister used them for her wedding and the food was really good and reasonably priced and they make it all look really nice even though it's kind of BBQ style. I've also been to a wedding that used Lancer catering and their food was really good but I think they're a bit more pricey.

The best thing from going through when my other sisters got married is to ask people who are close to you who aren't a part of the wedding party if they would be willing to help you. A couple of my sister's close friends have offered to help me with these things and I think it's going to help reduce the stress a lot.

Hopefully that answered your questions :]

Thanks for all your info! It does help!
  • would love to have a wedding there
