Reception Venue Freak-Out

I'm not getting married until April 2013  but I'm already stressing and losing sleep because of finding a reception venue.

I LOVE the look of the Elm Creek Chalet, but I need a couple more places to check out. We're also going to look at The Reserve in Plymouth, and Bearpath Golf & Country Club in Eden Prairie.

I'd like to stick as close to Plymouth/MG as possible, and find more venues that are open, and airy, and light/full of windows. Guest list is looking between 150-200, and I'd like to stay around $2k-$3k for venue and rentals.
Any ideas?

  • Not sure if this is within your budget, but Rush Creek Golf Course has a gorgeous ballroom!

  • Thanks guys, I appreciate the responses! I've thought of Rush Creek too... but their carpet is kind of ugly. I might just swap out a few of my wedding colors to make it work with the carpeting though. Thanks again!

Emily, I think I found the place you're talking about.. or I just found something else I like. It's called Hall 653. Nice and airy and roomy and won't cost an arm and a leg. More simple and plain, not quite so extravagant or jaw-droppingly gorgeous, but it just might work for us!

BTW, just got off the phone with The Reserve, and for anyone else thinking about it in the future - it's no longer a special events center. They are turning it into a restaurant. Bummer!
  • I know with Bearpath, they charge a ton of fees- especially if you're not a member. Also, if you're not a member and want to host an event in the clubhouse- you have to have a member sponsor you. I actually considered it for a little while since my good friend's parents live there so they could've sponsored FI and I, but at the end of the day Bearpath was way out of our budget.

  • The Plymouth Room at Plymouth Creek Center is very nice and reasonably priced.  I am having my ceremony in the garden and reception indoors.

2 of the walls are all windows that over look the garden.  You also have full patio/deck access during the reception and it is lit with white string lights.

This dividing wall isn't there if you rent the whole room

I always thought this venue was fantastic, and reasonably priced, too!

Not sure if you're doing chair covers and/or ceiling draping, but if you do, these make the eyes look upward, and I doubt anybody would notice the carpet :-). I assume you'll also have linens and flowers on the tables, which will also make people look up, not at the carpet.
