DIY Invites it is!

So I finally got the quote from Watermark Stationery and even with the graphic designer they are still about $400-$500 outside of my budget. They were going to charge me $465 for 175 Pocket Fold. For Real ppl where the H are you getting your Pocket Folds that they are almost $3/piece?? Even if I change to plain white paper they are still just over my Budget (w/in $100). So I've decided I can do better haha!

Anywho I am planning on checking out Anchor or Paper Depot today or tomorrow to see what kind of inspiration/samples they have.

I'm really picky about my invites so lets hope I find something!!!
P.s reassurance that this project will not take my sansity with it would be nice too.

I can assure it won't take your sanity... I finally felt mine return the other day when the invites were GONE to the post office.

But I still had a ton of fun, and we ended up at about $0.75/invite before postage.

Have you checked out etsy at all?  They have some cute invites there, that's where I got mine, and they weren't too expensive.

Good luck with the hunt for inspiration! Part of me wishes I would have decided to DIY it, but life got too crazy for me to even attempt to. The nice part about DIY, if you are super picky, you get the ultimate creative control and endless options for what to do!

I'm not going to sugar coat it - it is going to be more work than you think. I kept ours as simple as possible and they still made me insane at times. Do be sure to give yourself plenty of time. BUT...I can honestly say that it was all worth it in the end to have something totally unique and 100% ours.  It makes me kinda proud to be able to say I did everything from start to finish. A labor, yes, but a labor of love. And to totally toot my own horn for a second - they turned out AB FAB and I love them!! 

So you can totally do it! Good luck and have fun with it!

Jessica I found a couple on Esty and they were still 900-1200 since I need so many. (175) And also including Invite, Reception Card, RSVP Card, Accomodations Card, and Direction Card. The one I really liked FI didn't because it was all purple. Too much Purple for him.

My Mom can't go to look with me until prob. Oct. So I hope that 5-6 mos. is enough. I know that Holiday season will be crazy busy but I only work PT so that should help. My FMIL will be addressing all of them by hand so I need to make sure to give her at least a month to work on them.

I am expecting it to be a huge task. My Mom, My Aunts, and FMIL have all agreed to help assemble. So I am hoping to get a mini sweatshop going. (tasteless joke I know - my bad!)

If you like the pocket look, and are willing to do it yourself (but its super easy), Anchor paper is really cheap.  They quoted me about $400 for 400 invites, including the pocket, invite, and three inserts, envelope, and rsvp envelope.  This was all on high quality shimmer cardstock.  Of course, thats without printing, and just the paper itself.  Really great price though if you've looked into premade pockets.

I love Anchor Paper... they have a great selection and wonderful space!  DIY is definitely the way to go... I did like the mock-ups at Paper Depot a bit more than AP's, though.

Also, my sister got her pocketfolds at cardsandpockets.com and her envelopes (SUPER CHEAP) from envelopemall.com!

I bought pre-made pockets off of cardsandpockets.com. It was $285 with shipping/taxes. Sure, it cost me more but there was no way I was going to make 275 pockets!
I went to paper depot for the rest of my paper. For 4 enclosures plus the invite, it was $250 for paper alone.

I am looking for premade pockets and have seen them online but not really the colors I want so I am anxious to see what AP and PD have!

I thought I would want them premade too, but wait til you go to anchor paper.  The lady there literally put one together in 20 seconds, and it was beyond easy.

holy cow. I actually enjoyed making mine and they came in around $0.55 per invite before postage. and they didn't take me that long. I can't imagine paying that much for them just to have them pre-folded. heck...I would make them for you just to save you some money lol. My pocketfold portion of the invite only cost about $70 for 250 pieces of paper that I spent probably 25 hours folding them.
