Ceremony and reception combo

So I am really starting to stress! My wedding went from June of 2013 now it February 15th 2013. We changed the date because that is our original "dating" anniversary. It's on a Friday and I am wanting to do an evening wedding but just don't know what or where! I'm having a small wedding guest list with about 50-75 people. I'm pocketing this wedding myself so I have only about a 5000$ limit for just about everything. I know I'm screwed! Please help!

Re: Ceremony and reception combo

  • First, relax. You have just less than a year, you'll be fine, I've seen weddings come together between June and December.  A small wedding is completely doable on your budget; a lot of people do a lot more for less, just prioritize and become good friends with DIY. Since your wedding is on a Friday, you will very likely find cheaper prices and more avalibility.

As for your location: check out country clubs. A lot of them have the space for a ceremony and reception combo and some are not very expensive at all. A lot of small golf courses have good spaces for receptions and might not be the first place you would think to look. I considered a place called Glenross near Delaware that was just over $6000 for 150 people and it was about on par price wise with a few other places we looked at. There's also a place called Little Bear just north of Polaris that would be about the right size, as well as a club near the Josephinum at the 270- 23 intersection (I don't know their exact costs, because I didn't look into them too throughly, but they weren't outragous). Those are just places I researched, other people might have more in other parts of the city too.

Other ideas for research- hotel ballrooms (some are pricey, some might turn out less so) Community centers and town halls (I've been to weddings at those, it's kind of a blank slate) and catering companies (some have their own space). Good Luck.

Agreed with PP that this is completely doable.  I planned mine in 7 1/2 months for 100 people.  I don't have too many details but I know these venues have been mentioned a lot in the past and are good for the budget:  Clintonville Woman's Club, Arlington Swim and raquet club, and Gahanna Sanctuary.  there are more that I am not remembering right now but just a few to get your started.

  • I am planning a wedding for 80-100 on a 5-6k budget in a total of 9 months. I am having open bar, sit down dinner, etc. It is completely do-able if you do your research and get the best deals possible. My vendors:

-Olde Gahanna Sanctuary for ceremony and reception $975 for a saturday...lets us choose our own caterer and bring in our own alcohol.
    -Terry Figgins DJ- $400
    -Bess Cakery- $292
-Carfagnas Catering- $1450 for food and service

PM me for more details or if you want any of the contact info!
  • i'm doing worthington hills country club and they have very good prices! they do the catering. it's a 1,000 dollar deposit and i think that will pay for almost half but it depends on how many people are coming. we are inviting 44 people, so..
