St. Paul Farmer's Market Flowers on a Friday

My wedding is on June 28th 2013 and that is a Friday. My mom is set on doing Saint Paul Farmer's Market flowers because that's what we did for my older sister's wedding and my cousin's wedding and they turned out great. The difference in my wedding is that we're doing a Friday night wedding. I'm worried that the flowers selection will be different on a Friday than from what you see on a Saturday morning, especially in June. Has anyone done farmer's market flowers for a Friday wedding? I know there is mpls market flowers, but they seem like they get a little bit pricey.

  • For my brother's wedding, I went to the market a month or so before the wedding and talked to the vendors.  Many of them were willing to take advance orders so I knew they would have the flower/color I needed that morning.  This was at the MPLS farmer's market, but you might want to try the same tactic at the St. Paul one.
  • I agree with PP on going maybe a month in advance and potentially ordering them. Otherwise, Costco and Sam's Club have great deals on flower packages too.

Planning Bio-Added FOR SALE page, will be adding more stuff to it soon!
  • Thanks for the suggestions! I think I might tell my mom to go to the Minneapolis farmer's market instead--by looking at the website it seems like the Lyndale market will have what we need! (My mom is pretty stubborn about it being saint paul over minneapolis because she's scared of driving in minneapolis but I'll just have to tell her to suck it up, hah.)

Not sure what's happening next year in June, but at Edina Farmers Market on Thursdays, there is a vendor with fabulous bouquets for $6. Mai and Pa are the owners because I had them write a receipt for me from a purchase I made for a professional organization.

Just get them from "The Flower Guys" directly instead of getting them from there at the Farmer's Market, just go to their shop and order them in specific to what you want or go there on Thursday and pick from their selection (Thursday is when they go to their dealer).  They're at Central and 31st.  Jim is the guy to talk to but the rest of the staff can help you out too (they're characters so be prepared to "just roll").  It's not the fanciest or nicest flower shop you'll ever walk into but they've always been great and the prices can't be beat.  They also can arrange them for you if you want to delegate that part out too. They aren't overpriced with their arrangements from what friends who have used them have said, however, they do not deliver.
