Dance Lessons?

Does anyone have any recommendations for dance lessons in the twin cities?  We are looking for something that will give us a basic introductory course and something more modern (no need for the fox trot Let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!!!

Arthur Murray Dance Studios, Cinema Ballroom and Social Dance Studio all have lessons for different varieties of dance :-)

FI and I just had our 1st lesson last night! I purchased a Living Social last week for Dancers Studio in St. Paul www.dancersstudio.com
The first class is free and a personal, half-hour session.  We met with Gordon, brought our own music and he was great.  We have 4 more classes with our deal, which will be 1 hour, group classes.

We're taking lessons through Aurther Murry, the Edina location. LOVE IT, great instructor, fun atmosphere. We got a groupon awhile back that got us started, and then we got suckered into getting their 10 session wedding package so we could do a choreographed first dance. A bit spendy, but I'm sure they do "a la carte" too.

Ha!  Us too!  But it didn't take much arm twisting, really!  We are having a blast!

Look for dance lesseons in your local community ed programs too! They are less expensive and can be just as good.

Not too long ago, my man and I took Salsa and General Ballroom from Aaron Clarey through St. Paul Community Ed. He is perfect for dudes who are shy with the dancing. What I really liked about his classes is that he gets to the basic steps but not every class is not about perfecting those basic steps. He leaves it up to you to practice those at home. Of course he does a refresher but then he'll get to the fun stuff off the bat. The stuff you want to look cool doing. Then before you know it, you are doing those basic steps and looking confident with some hot moves.

That is a great idea to check community ed classes!!!  We bought the Groupon for Arthur Murray as well, but were really turned off by the first lesson - about 15 minutes of dancing, and about 35 minutes of sales pitch.  The classes there end up being over $100 per hour, and while you get more one on one attention and free group classes.... we just couldn't justify it.  I just checked the Eden Prairie Community Ed page and there are several dance classes listed!!!  I am super excited to show this to FI, we really want to take more lessons!!  Thanks for the idea!!
